I had a big time bummer a couple months ago when I discovered the anno on the original tub was quickly fading around, and near, all the nylon parts. Looked like it got bit by the peroxide bug.

I stripped it all down and had it re anodized black again (and also gave the nylon another boil). The anno turned out pretty good and it's ready to be put back together.

Before you put any parts back on, be sure to detox all nylon parts, or it may start to fade again.

I've given all the parts an additional soak in mild soapy water (dish soap), and an additional 5 minute boil. They should be all set now.

The first time I put it back together after peroxide treatment, I only rinsed them. That proved to be insufficient. Lesson learned... :!: :!: :!:

I have had very good results, but the time is lengthy. After a hydro bath, a 10 min. boil, then into a 5 gal. bucket with very hot tap water. In that bucket, my parts will sit for 7-days ( changing the water twice a day ) with hot tap water again. Then after 7 days, another 10 min boil, and let air dry for 2-3 days.

What did you use to strip the anno? I've used oven cleaner but it seemed dangerously corrosive

I used oven cleaner with lye. But, it was very corrosive and not pleasant to work with. Next time, I'll just pay the extra to have the anno place strip it.

That's what I do, for $20 they can deal with the nasty chemicals!

Funny enough, that's how I found out about the shop, they were on the news for a large spill  expensive advertising! Lol

Finally got the Team Car back together, and I'm pretty happy with the results. I still need to paint the shell, but haven't decided what to do with it yet...

Here are some fresh pictures! :D :D :D
