Dirt Oval tub car
I've been wanting to do a dirt oval tub car for awhile now, and finally have most of the puzzle to start. Have yet to do a black chassis build, so here it goes. The track where I plan to run this is open, run what you brung type of deal. I have a new Rocket Wedge late model body, but can run an EDM body if I want. Not sure how those two types would clash? Thinking a 8.5-10.5 brushless setup, TC3 shocks, CW wheels and rubber tires, with CF front and rear towers. Anyone have much experience with the Speedy's towers? It almost looks like a DS rear tower would work too.

Looks like a great start!

Rocket Wedge is my fav CW shell. Speedy's parts are junk, geometrically crap. Too many bad options and angles. Cut down rear tower and stock 6 hole front tower is perfect.
Cool stuff

Cool. Will the stock front tower fit under the late model shell ok? Any possibility the DS rear tower is close to the dimensions as a cut down rear?

A run-what-ya-brung class would be awesome!
It looks like you're off to a nice start with those parts. I'd keep it old school and run a McAllister lowering kit or some JG lowered towers if you can find them.

Re: Dirt Oval tub car
I'm running a DS rear tower on my oval car, with TC4 shocks. I had to go with the DS bulkhead because the arms were interfering with the inner ball link anchor holes. Also, using the TC shocks made it sit too low, so I went with .80" shafts in the rear.
I'm not sure how it'll work for an open class, as I'm limited to 13.5 and a muscle car body.

Re: Dirt Oval tub car
Let me know Reg. I'm sure I can use your expertise on getting a setup.
LTO, it should be quite fun as there is everything from a B2 to the newest CW cars. From what I've gathered though, a lot of rough driving is going on so hopefully I can bring back some old driving skills... as the oval was the only game in town when I was a kid running RC.
Thanks for the pic Russ! I was thinking it would be close and thought about using this: http://rccarbonworks.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=95
Or possibly this: http://rccarbonworks.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=110

Re: Dirt Oval tub car
That short tower should be fine. Your bulkhead looks more like the DS type. I started with the one from the 6 gear, and it would hit the ribs on the rear arms (wider mounting holes for the ball links)...but I'm also running the "short" wheelbase mounting holes on the inner arm mounts.

Re: Dirt Oval tub car
Can anyone confirm if the stock front tower will fit under the late model body?

Re: Dirt Oval tub car
That's suprising. The open comp camaro body I used to run back in the day rubbed the tower and bob's body looks lower in the center.

Re: Dirt Oval tub car
you need to take into account that reggie's chassis is sitting flat on the ground and there will probably be 5/16 to 3/8 trimmed off the bottom of that body yet.
it could still be fine, i'm just sayin'.......
oh, and that mount should be showing up soon.
