- The neon pink freak ten -
I thought I would share this with you guys although I still have no plans for this one besides turning it into a buggy at some point. I have had this truck for a year or so now and basically left it in the shipping box untouched since I received it. I recently digged it up and thought I would start dissambling and cleaning it.
The chassis appears to be a genuine and original AE factory fluorescent pink powdercoated chassis with truck nose plate. The chassis is in almost perfect shape and appears to have never been run. It does show some very slight shelf wear but other than that it looks perfect. I would like to convert it to a period correct buggy but the main problem is the truck nose plate: it leaves me with only one possibility, that is having a RPM world's conversion on the front and a regular set-up on the back, which I don't fancy a lot. Now I would love to have a proper pink buggy nose plate and will start hunting for one. Should anyone have one, I will gladly tarde the truck one for a buggy one I also noticed the center hole in teh nose plate that is used for a shorter (buggy) wheelbase is still full of paint/untapped. Was that common or was AE tapping these holes at the factory? The AE 3/32" screws in teh chassis were replaced (sacrilege) by black Losi ones, yikes
The truck also included some nice aftermarket parts: RPM servo mounts, RPM shorty bumper (dyed black), RPM rear hubs (early version with teh old logo in italics), RPM center link, Andy's rear shock tower, rear blocks and battery cup that has seen better days. It also came with an unused set of silver chromed Pro-Line truck wheels, a set of original tires and rims (dyed black) that I will most probably get rid of as I've never been a huge fan of trucks. Most of these will probably go back on teh buggy and I plan to use black MIP shocks with white collars, white arms all around and will probably use RPM white ball cups along with old school titanium turnbuckles (probably Lunsford/RCPS ones). That's it for now and here come a few (crappy) pictures:

Nice truck, but if you want a buggy why not sell it and buy a buggy?

The fun in that would be in keeping what looks like a unique survivor original. But, to each their own.

Re: - The neon pink freak ten -
I do have many buggies, most of them being RC10 in all shapes and forms. I was just missing a factory neon powdercoated chassis in my collection and as these are not easy at all to source (especially in good shape), I basically bought this truck for the chassis. It was not at all a unique survivor but more like a big mish mash of parts from different eras, so no I don't feel guilty for this, on top no kit came with these neon chassies. I might also drop most of teh truck parts on a barely used black chassis and have a complete one. I'm just more a buggy guy... Anyway, this thread will now sink deep until I have a good idea of what should be used to complete the buggy and find a new neaon pink buggy kick-up.85Edinger wrote:The fun in that would be in keeping what looks like a unique survivor original. Re: - The neon pink freak ten -
So thanks to Jason aka Scr8p I was able to make little progress by getting a NIP pink buggy nose plate from him. In the meantime I selected a few vintage hop-ups for this build and decided to go with a pink, black and white theme.
After inspecting the tub closely I can confirm it's an original B-stamp chassis with offset battery holes that was factory powdercoated. I'll post pictures as I progress further.
Shocks were built using MIP hard coated bodies along with MIP front hard coated shock shafts and copper Yokomo springs.
