RC10 Graphite Ex Racer from Japan

Post by Dual »

Hey guys,

Finally finished and ready to show is my RC10 Graphite. Purchased a few years back from Yahoo Auctions, I noticed the familiar paint design and complete electronics package and wanted this car in my collection. Unfortunately, some of the plastics had turned an unpleasant brown colour. I have kept these original parts but have substituted new parts for the rebuild. Other than some of the plastics being discoloured, the car was well maintained. Some interesting features on this car that I noticed during the rebuild were the battery placement that moves the cells forward by some margin compared to the stock setup and 1.02 shock bodies in the rear.

Car features a few option parts from the era such as titanium turnbuckles and hingepins, cut down motor mount, carbon transmission brace and the Japanese spec gear cover. Electrics are KO PROPO EX-1 radio, KO PROPO KR-288 receiver, KO PROPO CX-III speed controller, KO PROPO PS-302 FET servo, Reedy modified motor, unknown SCE cells.

The paint design is very similar to what Masami Hirosaka ran in the late 80's/early 90's with the obvious difference being the base colour. I have seen this colour scheme once in a magazine but I do not know who it belonged to. Maybe someone here can chime in if they have seen this car or know who it belonged to.

I am really happy how this rebuild turned out and I hope you guys enjoy the photos.

Vin

That is a very tidy looking graphite buggy. The paint on the body is done very well

Thanks guys. A cool car for sure. The paint work is excellent even though the body has seen better days. Maybe the stiff carbon fibre chassis necessitated a different setup to normal with regard to the battery placement.

The ball ends and ball studs are Yokomo items.

Very cool car. I have never seen pics of a red base colored body but I have seen pics of a white and a yellow that were run by Masami's Yokomo teammates.

White one was from a RCCA coverage of a Reedy Race (forget the year) but it had a black Team Car tub, not a graphite chassis.

Yellow car can be seen on this page if you scroll down.

Vin, You have really nice car there, glad that it found a new home from someone who takes care of it!

Jirka

EDIT: Similar painting but blue is Satishi Maezumi, see 1991 IFMAR worlds raport from RRC

Thanks Jirka. That was the photo I remember seeing :D I know Shouzo Takatani painted most of the shells for Team Yokomo drivers. I have seen till now green (Masami Hirosaka), white (Satoshi Kayano), blue (Satoshi Maezumi), purple (?), red (?) and yellow(?).

littleVETTE, yep that RC10 is on foam tires. Yokomo TR and TF 20's respectively. I will be using a set on an upcoming project

The body on this car is an RCPS Mirage SS.
