I have decided that I am in the minority on staying era correct. I have decided to remain AE loyal however and will try to graft the B44 front knuckles and carriers to the stock wide clip. So far it's not too far off, just slightly narrow (maybe get rid of the hideous offset wheels to help width). I drilled an old tower to experiment with camber links so I don't kill my Worlds tower. I'm not sure the direction of the front trans yet, I would absolutely love to get a 3d modeler to make me one and have it printed by shapeways or similar. I know the gear layout that would fit well just have to put it to paper. I have decided to keep the pulley behind the motor plate as I did on my last one, but this time it will run a wide belt, so the motor plate will be spaced a bit. I think this may help center the new motors better as well. It's a win-win

Looks good. Maybe b4.2/b5 hex front wheels will get you wider up front. They've got more offset than the b44 wheels.

Thanks for the tip on the wheels, I'll grab a pair and see how it goes.

First off the caster blocks are giving me 20 degrees caster. On a 4wd thats a bit excessive. I had to reverse them to get DOWN to that. Anyone know of any b44 blocks with MORE caster (because I'll need to reverse them)? I can't use ones with less caster as it wouldn't be nearly enough.

Next up- if anyone uses the Avid motor centering kit and can measure (accurately!) the diameter of the shaft in the spacer area it would possibly save me buying one. I need to know if I knock off the built in spacer that there is still 3/16 meat next to the gear.

Built up the rest if the kit to make it a roller and get a little feeling for where its going. I'm going to stick with the drive system I ran previous but with a wider belt (no cutting) and premade pulleys. I will be extending the trans spacers 5mm or so and adding a longer topshaft. I've cleared out a lot of room up front, now I need to see what I can get to fit

I'm pretty excited to keep stock (relatively stock) geometry this time.

For the tranny the offset with stock set up had motor too far to side . I took an AVID long top shaft. annd dremel- filed the main spacer area off so the bearing would slide all the way to the gear. BUUUUT when i clamped the gear box down it would bind bad. I slid it in the drill press and with a file took off small amts of the raised area next to gear. This was all done with a Precise claliper computer aided--NAAA just small hand fille. when i got the gears running smooth.I found (with more precise commputer aided help) that a washer and a white nylon nut was the perfect spacer for the offset and it kept to the white look..I just love new technology,,, the back of the motor plate had to be taken off then the plate was flipped to front of gearbox. I got asked more times. " are you running the motor backwards."' some people could not see how the motor would work in that direction. with gearbox turned around. the stealthh works so great for this build

Spent a little time playing around with things, found out the B44 uses a smaller hub than the industry standard 12mm like the b4 wheels, so next up is swapping over the front cva to a rear style. The good news is that the width look perfect now and the parts are still all "off the shelf". It also looks like I will be using a gt2 topshaft instead of a hydra shaft to keep it easy to source the parts. Pulleys and belts should be here Tuesday

I could use more measurements guys. Anyone know of a CVA axle that is a bit shorter than the b44 front? Per the associated manual they are 81.4mm end to end, I need to loose 2-3mm or so
