Cliff Lett Inspired Build

Post by vintage AE »

I just recently aquired a RC10 A stamp, 6 gear for a decent price and already have plans for it. I'm going to do a Cliff Lett inspired car with Worlds re release parts.

The planned agenda:
  • √ disassemble and clean
  • √ bleach bath for yellowed whiteISH parts
  • √ trim and sand the chassis and plates
  • √ powdercoat chassis and plates & sand edges
  • √ sand & polish shock shafts (not used)
  • √ rebuild shocks (upgrade to Worlds shocks :D )
  • √ rebuild 6 gear trans
  • √ sand & polish pins
  • √ assemble car with Worlds rere front and rear hubs, Worlds rere front axles & steering arms & Worlds rere CVDs, B4 wheels and tires of some sort
  • √ sand & polish nose tubes and wing tubes
  • √ paint body
  • trade car with mikea96 for SC10 4x4
Here is the somewhat before photo...it had a flat black unknown yokomo body on it with really crapped out wheels. I had to change out the wheels just to deal with myself doing this. It also came with an unpainted Viper body, so that's getting the Cliff Lett treatment.

After taking this photo of the trimmed chassis I realized that the nose plate still needed to be angled back where it attached to the chassis, so that's also done.

This is the paint scheme I plan on doing once all said and done.

Awesome... that car got me into RC10s back in the early 90s... good memories. Will be watching this build!

This is cool and all Anthony, but wasn't that a Stealth tranny car?

Does bleaching work? I had only heard of peroxide.

Something makes me think bleach might make the parts brittle. ....but that could be totally fabricated by my imagination.

I'm still waiting for the chassis, but I aquired some parts for the build today.

This thing is going to be set up quite nicely

I just opened up my Worlds car kit and nabbed the threaded shocks from it for this build :D

Big bore shocks are going to be on the Worlds car :D :D

Well, the chassis is still at the powder coating place, but figured I'd get a running start before it comes back.

It's shaping up quite nice and to be honest it's probably smoother than my Worlds car. I will have to build some turnbuckles later and add the Worlds shocks, but she's pretty much done for the most part.

I'll take some good photos once it's finished. You are getting the shady, this car looks like crap photos for now.

Oh yeah, and a new development on the body. Since it's a Worlds/WOIN/Cliff Lett inspired build, here is the body and paint that this car is going to receive instead of the Viper body with the vintage paint.

That will be cool. I hope you have a clear wing, if not there are 4 at the store. I would give you one of mine but I hardly have any and was going to snag the extra ones at the store anyway.

Yeah, I'll grab a couple at the store. In car you didn't notice, I found a set of steering arms so I only need one more set and not two like I said earlier. Also, I need the herrings for the worlds rear hubs that fit the worlds cvds. Won't you be glad when I'm done my two builds so I can stop telling you I need parts?

Here are a couple better photos. I couldn't leave people with shitty cell phone pics. Still waiting on AE to send me my new shock body since the 4th on had a wonky shaft hole.
