The tub for what will become b1.5 #3 showed up today. Its used, but its straight with no extra holes, and minimal scratches on the bottom.

There's also tub #4. It has a slight tweak, a hole for servo horn access and kinda gouged up. But its my sacrificial lamb..... so to speak. Just in case my ideas don't work out, I didn't chop up a good tub.

Got the bottom of the tub cleaned up pretty good. Still a couple of scratches at the back but theyre not too bad.

I also shortened the tub like the others and got all of the new holes drilled and countersunk. I plan on using a truck nose on this, but I still have to cut the back of the nose plate off and remove the bumper area on the front. I already have a new motor guard and Reggie hooked me up with a new motor plate. So hopefully it'll be on its way for ano in the next few days.

You going to soften the finish before anodizing, or go high gloss?

it's really not all that bright/shiny in person. just a step down process from 80 to 3000 grit, no polish. i don't have ano done all of the time, but the stuff i have had done, that's how i sent it and the parts came back pretty nice.

Did that chassis have scratches on it from being run? is that all elbow grease or machine?

Looks good!

it was run, but it wasn't beat. pics of what it looked like are near the bottom of the previous page (there's 2, this is the nicer one).

i glass beaded the ano off of the bottom only since that's all that required work (the anodiser will strip the rest). then 80 grit on a da, 150 da, 320 da, 400 da, 600/1000/1500/2500 wet by hand, then 3000 on a da.

Shortened front and back. Now it's all ready to go out for ano, gonna do this one purple I think. Not totally sure on the direction I'll take it when it gets back, but I'll figure something out.

Did you get "screwed by trinity"?

I love the purple screws...just not on a purple chassis. Now, on a black worlds car... 8)

I had to take a closer look at that tub. At first I had thought it was painted with a high gloss metallic silver, the I noticed that the sides were still black. Nice job polishing that one

there's no polishing done to that at all. the last thing i use is the 3m trizact 3000 grit foam 6" da pads on a 3/16 orbit da sander..... wet, not dry. after a whole lot of previous grits. once i'm done with it i'll take the worn out piece of 3000 i just used and run it front to back by hand to remove any swirls from the da.

i use them on my paint jobs in the same way, the final stage before polishing. that's the only reason i even have them.
