I'm looking to do a Masami body. What color is that green exactly?

I eyeballed up the colour from the photos in the book. Pretty much fasgreen with some florescent yellow mixed in.

Ok, I'm home now and looked through my sticker stash. The bad news is I do not have the Novak, so you have to live with that one! Other bad news, the Yokomo sticker on the front suspension arm, I was sure it was from the original 834B sheet. The smallest one on that sheet will fit but is not correct. None of the Yokomo sheets I have seen are this small. I wonder if Autographics made a Yokomo sheet? They always had smaller sizes than OEM on other sheets!

The good news is, I have the Reedy. You threw me a loop with the 55 to 60 mm size. I checked the full sheet and no size exists. So I went back and looked at my Stealth Book to compare. They are actually 52.3mm which I have 2 for you. I can also send you the smallest Yokomo from the 834b sheet, to put on the arm until you find the correct one. This would not be hard to make as it is black ink printed on clear. You could scan, shrink to correct size and print  Chrome Yokomo could be an easy print as well.

PM me your address!

Worked a bit on the car over the weekend and mounted the wing, undertray and body. There are still a number of finer details to fix but it's getting closer and closer!

To do list:

- get wing mounts gold anodised
- change front bulkhead to 30°
- mill/modify rear wheel adapters
- source or custom make missing decals
- tune front camber/toe-in
- change motor capacitors to yellowish ones
- source missing electronics (Novak M1c ESC without the fuse, Ko Propo KR-285A (?) receiver and Ko Propo EX-5 transmitter(?))
- add velcro straps to the body/undertray
- cut vents into teh body
- drill the chassis and add antenna mount
- fabricate the Worlds orange label with the proper number
- etc.

Here's how it sits right now:

Looks great and I know you have to be happy with the way the car looks so far. I know as I got closer to finishing mine, I was surprised how well the car came together.

Look forward to the finished product.

I also noticed that, but it has probably to do with a very poor resolution and distorted picture. Most of the colours are faded and probably that green on the wing side dams is supposed to be white? I went by the book as it is to me the best reference! One thing I'm almost sure though is that Masami used a Japanese version of the gear cover with a wider red plug. I've seen a few pictures where it appears and besides the ad picture, there's is no picture/video showing a US version. No to source such a gear cover is a quest in itself...

Thanks Jake, I'm happy to make you proud as this is in a way one of your babies! The car came well together indeed, but the amount of mods is just incredible, not mentioning sourcing all these rare bits and bobs. I tried hard to source every single vintage part still available avoiding as much as I could any re-re or repro printed part. What really strikes me is that every mod has a real purpose on this car, but you could say "hey what did you expect from a car prepared by the master?" 8)

Thanks for the compliments gents! Finally found a nice KR285A together with a 410M1c that will require some painful rewiring. Getting really close to the finish line!

Does anyone know the gauge of the original battery/motor cables on the Novak 410M1c? 12 gauge is my guess but need to be sure not to buy the wrong cables?

Oh and does anyone have a picture, even a bad one, with Masami's car AND electronics installed? I would like to install them as faithfully as possible to the original but have never seen any picture yet. Maybe I should look at the 91 videos? I just know the receiver was into a homemade (?) lexan case.

I'm sure they are 12g wires but I went through the whole manual and found no reference: http://www.manualslib.com/manual/401695/Novak-410-M1c.html?page=14#manual . It may be written on the box though. The funny thing is, my brain keeps telling me 11 gauge.

if you have wire strippers that have the gauge marking on them, you can figure out what size it is by stripping the end of the old wire. It looks by eye to be 12 gauge but it might be an oddball 11 gauge. If it fits nicely in 12, it's a 12, if you trim off a handful of whiskers its 11 gauge.

i would bet 12 and 11 gauge would have the same jacketing diameter, or so close it wouldn't matter either way. I suspect you would have a nightmare of a time trying to find Novak 11 gauge wire as well.
