You did a great job on the motor guard. So how did you get it to come out so nice? Sand paper and oven cleaner?

I like the wheel covers too, gives it that late 80's early 90's look. Kinda like pegging your pants!

After I straightened the guard I sanded out most of the deep scratches. Then gently sandblasted it, and used a scotchbright pad to smooth it out a little.

As for the red wheels, I just can't bring myself to keep them red. After installing my new wheels I first made them red and stared at it for a while. I personally just like the white nylon wheels look better. I've always been a fan of the white nylon on black chassis cars.

The whole car and all you like is my stickers, thanks Rod

I found some better looking more appropriate size number plates so I swapped those out.

And I cut out a quick and dirty battery strap. After my alum hardware is here I will drill and pin each screw.

Yeah, looks like a legit racer from 91. Great finishing touches with the electronics. Jealous, I hope mine comes out that nice! :D So is your plan to run this sexy beast?

My goal, while I don't race and never have, was for the car to look like it was just pulled of the track. My knowledge on correct electronics is limited and I just used what I had. The receiver does have a '91 date on the bottom so I at least knew that was good to go. I still need to finish the battery and solder everything up. Waiting on my final build to finish the wiring. I don't have any intention of running the car. I don't live in an area with any decent tracks. Last one I found was flooded with every type of car on the track at once. Kids with 1/8 scale buggies and this wouldn't be a good mix. Entering a racing class would just be embarrassing as I've never done any sort of track time but practice and that was a good 12+yrs ago.

I even added the super long antenna tube. None of my cars run antennas out of the body but this car needed one

Looks good Todd, resembles a Pavidis paint job.

+1 for the long antenna.
I always get paid out at the track for having a long antenna tube.

Edit: I should have read your first post about the Pavidis paint

 No No No! I love the whole car, it has a true factory racer feel! I just like the decals as well. I was wondering what to do on my runner front tower, plain or some sort of decal? I like your choice. May copy!

Still need to change out the hingepins but that's another night. Just finished installing my new screws. So much better than blue. And I thought these rear tires looked more appropriate for a race tire.

Hi Romulus,

What axles did you end up using? I've heard B2 axles work?

I don't remember the part number but I used the 1/4" axle universals.
