Looking at a Dhawk build....maybe

Post by abailey21 »

Ok, so I've searched and searched on here, found that there used to be a thread about the Dhawk stuff on the ebay threads but couldn't find it.

Looking for info from people who have used the Dhawk parts, fitment, quality, color matching to the gold and or blue?

If I do a build I'm looking at a black chassis and blue parts, more for a shelfer but I'd probably throw bearings at it.

I did read in a thread here that bearing fitment was pretty tight but thats about all I've found.

Maybe a white powdercoat chassis with the blue, not sure.

I'm just looking for feedback from those that have used his stuff?

I have a silver set of the parts you are thinking about getting in blue. They are not perfect but they are a good value for the money. The rear hub carriers are for non flanged bearings. I found that my flanged bearings with 1/4 axles wouldn't work. The steering bell cranks use metric hardware in place of an 8/32 screw.

That's what I ended up doing with my black re-re chassis set. I personally really like the black and gold look. Just as an FYI, I don't think atomikrc carries the kit with the a-arms, but I'm not 100% sure. Also, I purchased a silver set from dhawk a couple of months ago and they did accept a lower offer. Just something to keep in mind when you are ready to pull the trigger. As shodog mentioned, these parts aren't perfect, but I was very pleased with the quality given the price.

Its the aluminum parts kit for the Classic that doesn't come with the arms. I used this on my classic and found that I had to modify my RPM arms to fit the rear arm mount which is slightly larger. If your buying the dhawk kit with arms , this is not an issue.

Also on the tranny I had to re-mill the hole on the out drive to run the extra external support bearing.
