Yeah.... it's a tough one. I'm sure some places would let it fly, like the Vintage Nats. As you said, a mid motor rc10 is nothing new. I would have to re-read the thread, but i believe the chassis has been lengthened to that of current cars? That may be an issue more than anything.

As for the dynotech arms, since they're copies of an actual vintage part they should be allowed to be used at any vintage race IMO. But using them on the rear in an OIN type setup could possibly be questioned.

Yeah it's tough, the chassis has been extended but nothing different then a T2 chassis or using the nose plate in the extended 10T position.

That would be killer if this car would qualify.

Well,
I finally had time to paint the body. I couldn't help myself and can't paint for beans, so I'll call this semi successful. It's not perfect but still looks the part and is fine for a runner/racer.

At least there is no mistaking it.......

NIX10M untouched after a race. The car is getting quicker and while it's still not the fastest single lap car managed to pull off a win. It's now tapping into the 19's at our track. This is a bumpy high bite carpet track, the car is covered in sticky fuzz.

The pressure was pretty intense this race meeting as a local hot shoe turned up with a Yokomo YZ-2. Racing was really good and close. I had a bad string of qualifiers and qualified 2nd, but came good in the finals winning all three.

I think there is still a bit of time left on the table to be had. This car really grips hard, if anything a bit too much. With a little more set up work this thing will be a real weapon. I think this 2.5mm chassis will really shine on med grip outdoor tracks, just waiting to get the 3.2mm chassis to test. Hopefully Jakes mill is operational soon.

On the second final my fastest lap was quite slow @ 20.447 but my 15 lap average was 20.652. I was driving conservatively trying not to push the car to hard to make a mistake.

Hi RJ,

It really looks the business! Good work!

I am always surprised how fast you guys can get around the track especially the first banked

corner.

Now that Hobby Habit have upgraded the on-road track will they ever upgrade the off-road track?

It needs to be more newbie friendly, longer more open and re-carpeted in a lighter color.

I have only driven round it a few times as I find the whole setup intimidating, which isn't good if

HH are trying to attract more newbies to off-road RC.

Again excellent work, I would love to get down there to see you race sometime.

Hey Dave,
It looks really cool sitting on the starting grid amongst all the new buggies.

The track is pretty unforgiving and if you get it wrong it's a car breaker for sure. The bank itself isn't difficult but the transition between the straight and the bank is a bit tricky to get right at full speed, and making sure you get it stopped in time for the hairpin at the end. It's not really a hard track to drive once you do a few laps, and remember, only drive as fast as you can consistantly get around the track without crashing. This makes the experience better and more fun.

The problem with the Hobby Habit track is there is a TON of speed crammed into a small track, so making a more open flowing track is hard. Before the second bank was built that part of the track was flat with a sleeper track border, everyone complained about breaking arms on the border. Second bank = even more speed.

The whole newbie/novice vs sportsman/pro thing is a tough one to get right, the track has to be easy enough for the novices to get around but tricky enough to keep the fast guys on edge. Mitchell park struggles with this as half want it simple and say it's too hard while the fast guys say it's too easy and want to bring the track up to a national level.

I think the long term plan at HH is to upgrade the offroad track, it is well over due for a revamp. If they kept the big berm and even the second but made the rest of the track flat, added some better more flowing jumps, and made the layout variable I think it would attract a lot more people. Mitchell park is a great track and pulled some crazy entry numbers but the club struggles to move forward due to politics.

Too bad there is not many videos to choose from.
Now I can better understand RJ's talk about the need of feeling comfortable with the car...
