Re: i won an edinger early no stamp
well, being as though you can still see the light gold underneath at spots, i would be soaking that stuff in acetone or lacquer thinner before i even thought about sand blasting it. it could easily be enamel paint.

Re: i won an edinger early no stamp
i see no signs of the gold at all, no thin spots on the chassis or nose. ill let the nose sit in lacquer thinner for a day to see what happens.scr8p wrote:well, being as though you can still see the light gold underneath at spots, i would be soaking that stuff in acetone or lacquer thinner before i even thought about sand blasting it. it could easily be enamel paint.

Looks like gold areas in the pics to me. But hey, maybe not. It's not in front of me.
Sand blast away then.

Re: edinger early no stamp light resto
soaked the nose in lacquer thinner for like an hour and the paint came off just by rubbing it with my thumb. was kinda rubbery as it was coming off. never had paint like this before. well this is what it looks like now. what brand paint would be the best to use to repaint the pan????

Re: edinger early no stamp light resto
acetone will probably strip it off quick.
or try 'paint thinner' it's a super blend of solvents, one of them has got to work. It looks to me like the main chassis is gold, but hard to see for sure, have to go by what you say.
you should be able to get that anodized from a few people on the board, or locally. definitely worth going with the original light gold if you can afford it. depending on who you know or can do it, 30-100 bucks is pretty much the range.

i think thats all the dust on the chassis making it look gold in the pics.

Great find there, here's for the front tires that will complete your early Edinger tire set.

Re: edinger early no stamp light resto
will be sending her off to don on sat!! having the main chassis and nose done. going to use the orginal light gold shocks and motor plate that i have already. sent him a motor plate to match the anno up too so it should be close to the orginal gold anno.
in the mean time will be cleaning the orginal white parts not going to whiting them. want the white parts too look natural not bright white

Re: edinger early no stamp light resto
only reissue parts going to be used are front wheels and rear wing with wire. also using edinger tires without the goodyear logos will be keeping the cracked goodyear rears and display with the car since they are orginal.
