As you know, I am really excited about this.

An extended Turbo Mirage shell will also be on my list.

Great work guys as always.

Yeah super cool! I've been wanting a 3d printer for some time now but I'm spoiled at how well the shapeways parts look. Yours look decent though! Maybe you can give us some insight on the whole 3d printing process. I read so much on failures and clogs and stuff so I'm curious as to how frustrating it is (or isn't).

I'll start a separate thread on it some time so this one doesn't get cluttered with it.
For now though I'll just say you don't just turn it on and expect it to print perfect parts, there's quite a bit of trial and error, and learning. The other thing, as you pointed out, is that the quality of a home-printed part is probably never going to be as high as what can be done on industrial machines costing on the order of 100x more.

I think I've got the mounting for the front trans case all sorted out. Last night i printed a trans case with mounting bosses on it. Fresh off the printer:

Then tonight i test fit it, it fit great!

The only other change is that I'm going to have a piece sticking down to fill in the gap below the boss on the trans and between the arm mounts, just for better cosmetics.

Next up is the steering, i think I'm going to have to design new bell cranks and modify the steering blocks again. Stay tuned.

Thanks man!
Yeah, its a huge benefit to be able to test a part within a day or so of designing it. I wish i had had the printer when we started this project, it would have been done by now.
