K-TOWN-KITT's rebuild thread.

Post by K-TOWN-KITT »

I just wanted to start a thread for some of my RC10 rebuilds. I mostly use all used parts and use what I have. I seldom buy anything new and have a problem opening any NOS.

I just finished this one up. Basically just built up from parts. The buggy has full bearings, cvd axles, upgraded composite-craft chassis, and Proline tires and rims with the wide fronts. The shocks are all cleaned out and fresh 40 weight has been added. The transmission is nce and smooth. Works well with the 48 pitch pinion and spur. Has a Novak 410-M5 forward/ brake Esc, a Kyosho super stock motor, 148 servo, and a 112je reciever.

Just building up a runner. Early A stamp. The spring retainers don't have the slot for the piston shaft and no lip on the shock collar for the spring. Also has the rear shock tower with just the one hole for shock to mount to. The chassis is well used.

Yes it's still pretty strong even by the motor plate and tail. I had to make up the shocks before making the turnbuckles. Yuck, what a mess. Just finished up installing them.

Well I have her up on her feet. I used Goof-off, a brush. and a rag and went 3 rounds getting all of the chrome finish off the rear outer wheels. I wanted to use old 3 piece wheels but I don't have much to choose from so original soft bologna skins all around. :D

I have gotten the buggy together. I charged up a battery and it out for a test run. The buggy ran pretty good. My better half took a video for me to upload but I'm a Youtube noob with a 10 year old laptop and am having trouble uploading the video.

I got this one in a lot last week with really only 1 crude pic. Not to bad. I laughed that they used bailing wire to hold the battery in untill I seen 5 3/32 holes drilled in the sides of the chassis for the wire too. Then it wasn't so funny.

Here is where i am after about 5 hours. A bit less than half way there. I found a pair of little ribs on Bolink wheels. Pretty cool. I inverted them to widen the front. I'm hoping I have something matching for the back. Ok I am all cought up on uploading and updating my thread.

HO-LEE-CRAP, My God that is a lot of springs and shock parts! I'm going to save this, and show the girlfriend next time she says *I* have a problem with hoarding parts :-)

Most likly there are probably others here with bigger hords and its most probably nos.

I have gotten the rear half disassembled and am cleaning the nylon. Pretty yellowed in spots but came real clean. I only use dishsoap, a hard toothbrush, and pipe cleaners to wash my parts. I usually use whatever current dishsoap we are using in the kitchen but we were running low so I used some that the old lady didn't like because it didn't have moisturizer. I tell you what. It works great on parts. Cut at least 20% off the clean time. The dishsoap is called Reeva and it's sold at Save-a-lot. Blue for me. I like my RC10's to have that summer breeze scent. 8)

It was working in this late last night. I got the rear suspention going and then screwed the mounts on using the wrong holes. After noticing I set the car down and went to bed.
