What would you recommend?

I would recommend not running it.

MIP had their own lube for their transmissions but I don't know what weight it was. Eau Rouge, from that thread previously linked, is probably correct about the 5000 wt. lube. He would have a lot more experience running the gear diffs.

The instruction sheets also have some suggestions on which lubes to use...i.e. don't use AE lube, or go to a thicker lube if you want less diff action.

yeah, i would run something heavy inside the gears. even a smear of white lithium grease would be good, as long as some kind of lube is in there.

I plan to try and run....I will play around with the lube...a very good source recommended either 60k or 100k silicone diff fluid....we will see...I did order the A&L clutch assembly as I will not be using the torq control...

I have a new MIP case, now I just need the rest of the SP1 gearing to give it a try...

Well...had a chance to get this up and running...

I kept it as vintage as I could with the Novak vintage speed control. I had a new modern brushed motor from another lot I purchased (I remember my motor was the Trinity Monster back in the day). I stayed with the MIP ball diff for now vs gear diff with torq control (although after running it will need to be tightened up a bit). Even hooked it up with the old Magnum Jr:)...this would have been my dream car back in the day....

I had this vintage body and had to go with the vintage carbon fiber wing. I may swap out the body.

I still need to try and find a set of vintage MIP shocks. I have the vintage RPM rear guard coming with a set of yellow spring front shocks (thanks RPM answer man). I will need to play with the mounting of the body a bit.

All and all I am happy with how it came together and it really makes me reminisce about the days of racing indoors on carpet in the middle of winter in Michigan growing up. Even the smell of that brushed motor makes me laugh...just need to find some foam tire sauce we used to use:)

Thanks to every one who assisted throughout the build....time to start working on another one I think....
