So how exactly is the front sway bar mounted? Never seen that before...
The front sway bar is nothing really special: it uses the grooves in the front arm mounts and then the outer shock holes on the a-arms as a mounting point. No mod needed but you can't use the outer holes any longer.
Just using a ball stud in the hole then? I guess it's got to be over-sized right? (I don't think a 4-40 will thread in)

Yup, just cleaned the body and added 2 preload clips on the rear shocks. I will add the two missing front shock cups and call it a day. Cleaning of the rusty parts could be considered at a later stage to better preserve the car.

Nice, that's obviously the same car? It was probably lend by Masami/Masaaki to a racer in Japan and exposed during a race (Yatabe arena?) or a vintage meeting. The cat with the CAT with the green shell was sold a bit before the RC10 GX I bought.

That is a seriously nice car. It truly amazes me what fine details went into Masami's cars. You are quite fortunate to now own one of them yourself. Good for you, man.
I was lucky enougth to be in touch of one of the original 1997 World MX4 Prototype car. Run once (just the IFMAR World), the car was in a really good chape. Just few adjustments was necessary to set a good replica of the Masami machine, especially...

Wow what an awesome build, it really shows just how far advanced yokomo was, they were way ahead of there time.
I was recently in contact with Masaaki Hirosaka through email and this popped up in the conversation at some point and wanted to share it with you all. Here is his note about the prototype you can see below:
There is a prototype that I made last...

Very cool to see a Masaaki Hirosaka prototypes up close. It would be very cool to own one:)
As promised the Masami interview...I figured out how to get the scans just under the 256 size limit but if you want the scans a little bigger PM me you email address and i can send them...cheers
I got this really clean RC10B3 roller a few years ago and decided to try a Masami replica. This would be the box art car from 1997 that he TQ'd the Worlds with at Ranch Pit stop. This thread got me started as well as the MCI decals and other...

Thanks, since I have several to display, and the Jconcepts are pretty nice, Im going to use them as race and display stands. I did the cow scheme for the Cliff Lett RC10T over in the truck forum.
Here's a Futaba ad from a Japanese magazine from 1982. Who's that young guy? Masami Hirosaka :o Masami's first IFMAR Worlds didn't happen until 1986 (1/12th on-road worlds in Las Vegas), but he began competing in Japan at a very young age. Recognize...
So I recently made a trip to Japan and decided to pick up a Genova while I was there.

Despite the instructions being in Japanese this was a pretty easy build....

Things to do in the future:
-Get the correct wing painted
-Get electronics that are more accurate to what Masami uses
-Find a place to get the hop-up parts that doesn't want my first born for shipping.
