RC10 old school Edinger cleanup/resto

Ok here she is. Ain't mint by any stretch of the imagination, but most of the key bits are there and in decent shape. Some, as we will see, are just hangin' in there. Judging by the esc/motor/tires I would say the owner of this car previously owned a Tamiya of some sort, which is cool because that was exactly my case bitd. I raced my RC10 on that poor ol' Mabuchi motor 'til it died..

After a good look through the car and kit I have noticed that it includes a lot of parts coincidental to the old manual pictures, such as the rx, servo and the white-stick battery pack. So I am thinking of leaning towards a manual-replica build. I liked Phin's idea of leaving the Tamiya fronts, but they look really good on my Frog.

So the box says battery included.. is this a kit battery? Sure looks like the one in the manual. Just needs white tape and the wide plug..

I was excitedly taking a pic of the rx with the manual, I never noticed the manual car was 72mhz. So much for being the correct one.
Was that legal in a car back then? I can't remember...

No, 72mhz was outlawed for ground use during the brown box days. By the time of the rc10 it was 27 and 75 only in the USA

Lexan cover is cracked almost top to bottom, gonna be very dicey to clean I'll make a pic that shows the damage better...

Dang steering horn is glued into the crank, is epoxy de-bonder safe on these? I have lots of old janky ones to find out on..

Kit has an extra set included , but slightly damaged and the crank also sawed off. I've got a donor crank, hopefully it will come off!

These were totally randomly included, sweet, too bad one is scratched I've got some tires, but no inner hub (I think?). Def put these on the Frog...

Got a pic of the motor? Looks like the endbell is taped on so thinking it's an old mod motor.

Brings back good memories. I use to have the same Futaba speed control in my Edinger back in the day. Blew it up a few times Then went to a Victor speed control after that.

+1 for the manual-replica rebuild. Pretty sure that is the stock battery pack, in fact the 6020 kits I believe were not as popular BITD so that is an added bonus. Keep the pics coming!

That woulda been cool, but it appears the tabs and timing are intact. They just put electrical tape over the cooling holes to keep dirt out.
Tape doesn't quite make it to the endbell!
