Gold Pan A Stamp CE
Just wanted to share a few pics of my A stamp CE, I picked it up about 2 years ago. I picked it up for a really good deal, right place at the right time. It's missing a couple small parts, but the condition is just awesome. The car has only a few scratches as seen in the pics and still has the original AE kit tires on it. What's weird is the A stamp almost looks like it was a double strike and it's so deep you can see it on the underside of the chassis.
What body do I need for this? the #6121 Viper body?

OK, thanks!
I was going by this AE parts list. https://www.teamassociated.com/pdf/cars_and_trucks/RC10/Team/cat_rc10.pdf
It showed #6121 viper body for CE cars. IS that maybe for newer versions?

Well....couldn't help myself, had to take it apart to clean it and find out what isn't up to par. So far, found the one rear e-clip missing on the left rear suspension arm, so the previous owner super glued a washer in it's place.
The suspension and transmission mounting screws are all kind stripped on the heads, whoever built the car must have had a crappy screwdriver. Would like to find some new ones, I notice the ne production ones are a slightly different color.
Also found a M3 phillips head screw jammed into the left side nose support tube.

Re: Gold Pan A Stamp CE
Well after tearing into the tranny, I found some old nasty grease that smells like a melted crayon. Also during the teardown, I noticed that the idler gears were really wobbly, come to find out there was no e-clip on the idler gear shaft.
Did some clean up on the parts, some simple green, tooth brush and some warm water did the trick.
Going to replace the missing parts and reassemble everything using a Boca bearing kit that I had picked up for this project awhile ago.

Re: Gold Pan A Stamp CE
OK, that's right, I actually have one of those too. It's the late model, C stamp, all black with viper body. It's been awhile since I messed with my vintage RC10 stuff. It's all mostly been sitting in boxes or the closet, now it's gonna all get packed up again soon as we are moving in June.

Finally got the transmission all reassembled with all new bearings, new spur gear and some new idler gears, waiting on the felts, thought I had some somewhere.

Re: Gold Pan A Stamp CE
Since this car appears to be the "early" CE model, I'm guessing that this motor would be appropriate to stick in it. I have a couple of these, I cleaned it all up, put new brushes in it, lubed it and tested it, it's good to go.

Re: Gold Pan A Stamp CE
Thanks, it's far from perfect, but it's in really good condition overall. Looks like a battery leaked in the tub at one point, so there is a spot where the anodizing is messed up, that's the worst thing on the car really.nitro4blood wrote:Nice looking Gold pan!

Re: Gold Pan A Stamp CE
Well, it's all back together again, doesn't look too much different from when I started...lol But, everything has been cleaned, inspected, repaired or replaced where needed and also installed all new bearings.
Now onto a body for it.....
