My RC10 Project

Post by DRat34 »

As I mentioned in the intro post, I got this car for $50 from the previous owner who turned out to be a meth addict, so i probably saved it from a worse fate.
I had it sitting in storage for 10-15 years and dug it out. Reasons for digging it out seemed weird because it felt like it was calling for me. So when I looked up
for replacement parts, I was surprised that Team Associated did a limited re-release of it 2 yeas ago and now parts are abundant, especially parts for the Worlds car.
I already decided that I'm going to use Jconcepts parts and not liking white on gold, and favoring black on gold instead. The downside to that is that the tub is really
beat up and scratched to heck. The first order of business is to source a transmission and motor mount and found one on ebay, so we'll see when it comes in. The second
order of business is to clean this up and take inventory of what I have, what I can use, and what I should replace. When you look at the pictures you'll see what I mean.
The pictures were taken with my phone.

That is one well worn Gold Pan. Perfect to make a runner / basher out of though.

This would be an early Edinger RC10.
Remember it's either a runner or a shelfer. Everything else is just parts.

Is that because of the light gold color?

It's the lower spring cups he is talking about. They are "RARE" and hard to find. They were only used for a short period of time. They are typically found on the early no stamp pans which are also hard to find.

not sure what stamp letter is the pan. can't read anything from the top side, and the bottom side is the area is scraped down.

it definitely looks like an edinger chassis with maybe some parts replaced, or in a weird transition. for instance, those rear shock cups would likely have been couple with the early steering and fiberglass batter strap. universals were definitely upgraded.

it has very good value, though not pristine, if you simply clean and rebuild it to it's former glory. definitely straight out the rear kickup as well. I would not be scared to run it since it has been run quite a bit, but I would not replace anything unless it's completely broken, reuse as much as possible, and replace what is missing with the right parts, the hardest items would be period correct wheels and tires and the correct early body.
