Rc10 Graphite Brushless

Post by Smooth »

Took the old runner graphite out of the closet and put a 5700kv castle system in 2s. Geared with 81 tooth spur and 21 tooth pinion. CANNOT KEEP the front tires on the ground. Dropped it down to a 18 tooth pinion and same result. Any suggestions?? I'd like to keep the spur gear at 81. Also does anyone know where I can find a motor guard for the car as well? Motor plate it getting a little chewed up because the car only wants to wheelie. Thanks!!

Tungsten in the front! Also dial down the punch in the ESC.

Do you have the Castle Link to hook the ESC to a computer? If you don't, I highly recommend getting it, makes programming so much easier than using the remote and offers way more options (throttle curve is very useful and fun to play with). You can download the software from Castle's site and load up a demo version to see what it has to offer. I have a 5700 in my 10T and have it dialed in nicely, still insanely fast but controllable. The software does a decent job of explaining most of the parameters, if you have any questions, I will be more than happy to walk you through it.

Wouldn't a larger pinion help tame the wheelies? Would increase your top speed though...

With the lightness of the graphite, I don't think you could fit a big enough pinion to stop wheelies with a 5700. Especially if it is a newer quad pole.

You are correct.

OP: By switching to a smaller pinion, you actually increased the likelihood of the car pulling wheelies during acceleration.
Something clever goes here...

Hmmm.... I always thought the smaller the pinion the more top end which would decrease the wheelie. I'll throw a bigger pinion at it and see how she does.

smaller pinion and / or bigger spur = more torque -> more wheelies, less top speed

Correct and...
Also, not so important these days with Lipo... Less current draw = longer battery life (as in takes longer to dump) less heat etc...

EDIT:

I just remembered... Wheel size actually has to be factored in to final drive ratio, its a big deal in 1/12th not so much in 1/10th.

Anyhow using 2.2" wheels would be more favourable also. :)

Great looking RC10 Graphite. I still have one too. Built it when I was 12 yrs old. Love that old -10.
