My TQ10 Project: Resurrection to Runner Statis

Post by 501sRC10 »

Got ahold of this chassis and now it's time to make something with it. The plan here is to use up a bunch of extra parts I've picked up in some larger lots on E-bay and not a true restoration. Not to mention I just don't have the cash to buy any extra parts at the moment even tho it wouldn't be all that many. About the only part I will buy will be a Blue Groove body in a month or so. Anyways time to get started. Here is the starting point.

Didn't the TQ10 chassis have 'sharper' corners than that?

that is a TQ10 chassis for sure. I have seen some over the years that seem to have rounded corners, which could have been done by previous owner.

The rounded corners may or may not be from use. Both the front and rear edges have pretty good wear signs.
Which is why I'm not going for a full blown restoration. I just want a good example of the first graphite chassis RC10 that AE did not to mention I will want to run it at some point in time.

I've made some progress, cleaned and scuffed surface, filled the extra holes with some panel bond, then sanded that smooth. Now I'll give it a quick clear coat and start mounting parts.

Got a bunch done. Clear coating went well and it looks pretty cool. Still need to run the dremel sanding drum around the shock towers to get them cleaned up from the worked in dirt and I found out the one of the front mounts is cracked but I'm not too worried about that I should be able to find another to replace it. The front wheels are new Championship Edition with new TQ72's, rears are new Proline's with New PRO 80's. The turnbuckles are new Thorps that were purchased for a different project then not used. Next up will be the shock's.

That is looking great. The TQ cars are one of the most interesting variants, I think.
