Rc10 Team Car runner rebuild
Hello all. Recently aquired a lot of vintage rcs listed as "for salvage" and included the rc10 team car rolling chassis. Born in the early 80's, this car was a dream as I ran Tyco and nikko cars while bothering the local hobby shop weekly looking and dreaming.
The axial scx10 kit brought me back into the hobby 5 years ago (and I've had a number of other hobby grade cars and trucks through my stable- custom built by me 2.2 ultra4 wraith based buggy, brushless traxxas slash, hpi drift car, hpi blitz flux, micro crawlers)
This car came in a lot with the rc10 team car (which I identified through the 25year thread) a Team Losi jrx2 complete car, a jrx2 spare parts chassis, and 2 kyosho nitro cars. Threw everything up on eBay as I decided I want to finally build the car that started the off-road revolution. Its already fairly well beat on, so it won't be a shelfer , but rather a restomod runner (as many originor re-re parts and a modern electronics setup.
No photos as of yet as you've all seen beat up rigs.but as I get closer I'll have some.
I'm going to be using this thread to hopefully have answers I can't find answers to through searching. Having a team car makes searching difficult since the brand also contains team in the name.
Sorry for the paragraphs of text, so Onto questions.
1.
What tierod set fits the team car? Worlds cars have a. Shorter rear setup and that's all I can find online (3 ballcups broke on disassembly and one of the steering linkages is bent into an a shape)
2.
Do the classic re-re spur covers fit this car? It didn't include one and will see beach runs.
3.
Do the bearings from the classic rere or worlds car fit? Want to do all bearings while it's apart
Thanks soooo much in advance! This forum is an absolute gold mine of information!

Hi,
You can use the rere worlds tierods. They are same lengths as team car. (Original Worlds hade shorter ones at the rear)
Yes you can use rere ball cups and rere spurgear cover.

Thanks so much! Parts ordered. Needed a new steering arm, body, rear shocks to match. All on order. Can't wait to have a runner!

Question about the bearings. Is there a kit I can buy or do I need to piece one together?

Re: Rc10 Team Car runner rebuild
There's really no "kit" for your team car (that I know of.... maybe someone on ebay). The worlds kit will cover the trans but not the hubs and front wheels, and the classic kit does the hubs and front axles but not the trans.
Make a list of what you need and order them separately.
2) 3/8 x 5/8 plain
2) 5/32 x 5/16 plain
4) 3/16 x 3/8 plain
4) 1/4 x 3/8 flanged
4) 3/16 x 5/16 flanged
That's if your car is all stock with stock tq wheels.

Re: Rc10 Team Car runner rebuild
Thanks! Bearings ordered. Made progress on the rebuild. Took the car apart and gave all the parts a good scrubbing. Setup the new turnbuckle links and rebuilt the shocks. Starting to look like a car again.
Only other thing is still the tires. I pulled off front tq-72 6872 fronts and proline pro-60 red tires off the rear. From what I can see of the rerelease classic knobbies, the don't appear to a bead like my current tires do.
Is it just in pics or do the classic reres fit? They're 1pcs wheels with 1/4" rear axles

Re: Rc10 Team Car runner rebuild
what Mike said is true.
It will be tough to find skins to fit the 2.0" and 2.1" wheels as there is only a very limited selection available, they are (mostly) no longer in production. Ebay is you best bet to still find them, so if you are just running around lightly, that is a good option for a restoration.
If you plan on running the wheels off of it, look for 2.2" wheels. JC racing of the UK sells drop in replacement, although the front wheels are a little narrow for modern tires.
you can convert to worlds style wheels, but that may require different axles. look at team associated website for:
https://www.teamassociated.com/parts/details/6801-ASC6801-rc10_front_wheel_conversion/
https://www.teamassociated.com/parts/details/6802-ASC6802-rc10_rear_wheel_conversion/
and wheels you need are in the descriptions.

Re: Rc10 Team Car runner rebuild
Thanks guys. I've been looking at the axle conversions. Was hoping I could get away without it, but I guess I can't. I'll order a set as well as some rere wheels and tires. Wanting the classic knobbies for the look more than the performance .
