A couple of updates (fine tuning and fasteners needed):

1) I remembered reading that kyosho cvd's fit this application. I found a pair from an ultima project, and not only do they fit, they also provide the needed engagement.

2) in an attempt to not add a bunch of extra holes to the chassis, I experimented with an A3 TC3 rack unit. It fits using the factory holes, provides good clearance and functions well. I know what your thinking, holes are now needed for the servo. I realize this, but I most likely wont add electronics.

3) Mounted wheels:)

Next I will secure the front diff and belt guide. I will also install a cool set of shock towers (Designed and Fabricated by Jeff).

Nothing wrong with Servo tape if you end up putting electronics in it. We all ran it back in the day :-)

Thanks guys for compliments, suggestions, and encouragement. Any advice on drilling clean holes in the AE graphite chassis? I need to mount the front diff and the red belt guide.

Looks good but I would use rear tires on the front with larger rims. Mark your drilling points first with a punching tool and use the templates. Then drill carefully, ideally with a vertical standing drill and a diamond tip. Where is that front bulkhead from?

To add to drilling tips, put a patch of masking tape on the chassis before marking, center punch, and the most important part- drill in a press and back up the chassis with a sacrificial plate, like some scrap fiberglass or hardwood or Plexiglas. something that will.support the hole when the drill breaks out, otherwise the carbon can split.

I believe the front bulkead is custom fabbed. It was installed on an rc10 I purchased years ago. There Is no brand marking, and the surfaces appear machined.

I will try and remember where ai put the leftover wheel spacers, and then keep an eye out for suitable tires.

Regarding the drilling, here's my current understanding:
1) apply tape to top of chassis
2) use template to determine hole positions
3) center punch hole locations
4) Drill using a drill press
5) use a hard sacrificial backing plate
6) use diamond cutting bit

Do I clamp the sacrificial backing plate?
Any advise on cuttting speed?
Any other recommendations?

Thanks Limestang

I can't think of his name right now............. maybe it was Toasted Coastie? But that bulkhead looks like the ones he had made by New Era.

Need advice from someone with experience with MIP belt conversion. I am getting interference between the MIP trans and the belt pulley, to the point where it won't turn. Do I need to machine off the MIP letters from the trans case to make clearance or is the shaft too short?

Thanks Limestang
