RC10T2 M. Pavidis replica (updated 12-03)

Post by Vale »

Hi Guys,

My name is Daniel, I'm 24 and am from Luxembourg. Here I would like to introduce my new project: restoring an old RC10T2.

I got the chassis for $ 30 including shipping! However, one can expect at this price is not much. The chassis is in a terrible state. Also missing some parts that are rare now: battery brace and Gear Cover.

The first stage: Disassemble the chassis and see what parts are to use yet. Then I had to find someone who is familiar with powder coating ... should not be a problem.

I've already got some new parts. Some of them are hard to find, as for example the graphite rear shock tower or Tecnacraft Turnbuckles and Hinge Pins :)

I will definitely continue to follow reports and pictures.

(Sorry for my bad english :? )

That truck should have black bellcranks and they are readily available, don't throw the white ones away though as they are correct for an early RC10GT

that thing is a beauty compared to some ive seen on ebay and you got all that for a steal. keep us posted as you get it up and going. looks like a very nice start for a nice runner
do you think its a bad twilight zone episode for team associated to be re producing a buggy from yesteryear that is capable of beating their latest and greatest production buggy?

Yes, I've also been wondering why the bellcranks are white. I will replace it by some new, black bellcranks.

By the way: are the rear 3° suspension mounts, part number 7363, identical to those from the RC10 GT or B2??

Can someone help me with the electronics?

My steering is white on my T2. To be authentic, no problem with keeping what's on it. Negative on the rear susp mounts though. This should help you with you parts questions if you don't have it already..

With respect to electrics, "period correct" is going to be in the neighborhood of 1995-1997. Have fun!

Hmmm? I was thinking the white bell cranks may be an early version, I think they are correct!

Roger that on the white bell cranks, all early T2's had em!

We used to race pro, and got them direct from TE bagged.

Throw in a Tekin 411P esc, they were great at the time.

Hi Guys!

Thank you for your help!

Then I'll probably leave the white bellcranks in there :)

The problem with electronics is that it is very difficult here in the EU to come to such a component (vintage ESC and motor). Maybe someone can offer a fitting combo ...

Today, the BlingBling parts arrived: Titanium Hinge Pins and Tecnacraft Turnbuckles! 8)

From all the research I've done the early trucks came with different upper shock collars, and lower
spring perches as well as older style hex bellcranks instead of the square center- However, the timeline
on the GT was before the T2 and it was a shared part # and AE was known to use what they had (random
parts color variations etc) on hand during this period of 1995-1996 for sure. So anything is possible-

Yes, I'm also looking for a new body.. but are also very rare, almost impossible to find :? do you have any lying around there  ?

Guys, don't forget : if anyone has one of the missing parts, please let me know! (battery strap, gear cover, new body). Thank you!

T2 shells are currently available through AE and Towerhobbies. As for the other parts, eBay of course or our Buy/Sell/Trade section has a wanted forum although you will have to meet the criteria in the "Rules" section first before having access. In the mean time, please don't use this thread as a wanted thread :D
