RC10T3 Shocks Question

Post by BruceR. »

Well, after more than 10 years I'm getting the T3 back on the road. It has a Trinity Copperhead brushed motor and a Traxxas speed controller. I'm not interested in brushless for this particular truck. My question concerns the shocks. The local shop tells me the shocks aren't stock for the T3, but I don't recall ever buying shocks for the truck. Also, they said green springs are the lightest, so I'm not sure if I should leave them on, or try stiffer ones. For now, fresh 30W oil front & rear. So, from the photos, can anyone tell me if these are stock? It also appears there's no way to adjust ride height on these shocks?

Yes, Those came with the sport kit. T3 parts list also shows Blue and hard anodized shocks available for them. Those were the start of the Blue "era"

the sport kits with bushings did. I think the team and factory team had the team shocks.

I know our local track at the time was green, then I think black was softer when they came out.

Thanks for the replies. I seriously thought about getting bearings and all the Factory Team parts for this truck, but really most of its life will be up & down the street by my house. Maybe an occasional practice at the local track. I'm going to gift it to my wife then get either a T4 or SC10 for myself. I just need to visit the local tracks to see if the stadium trucks or short course are more popular. I *almost* pulled the trigger on a Slash, but I've reconsidered. I'm hoping that the lhs gets a SC10 in soon- I'd like to see one in the flesh before buying.

You should still get bearings. Not doing so will likely grove the parts they are connected to over time.

Shocks are all rebuilt, and I sprang for bearings. Still need to spring for a new body and have it painted. I'm thinking going with the scheme from the T3 instruction manual. Anyway, here she is for now.....

Hi,

Looks Great :!:

They re-released the T3 as a ready to run, Thunder Tiger Phoenix AT10 ES,

But here's the kicker the re-released parts are all Graphite like the Factory Team T3.

So when you need parts search for the Thunder Tiger as well :!:

In the future when you get B.S.T access let me know if you need parts I have quite a few

Dave.

It's called the Thunder Tiger ST.
Much is the same, but a lot isn't so be careful. The TT has a lot of metric stuff and the rear end is completely different. Front end steering is also different.

have fun with the t3!

Hi,

The Phoenix ST which we got in Australia was an exact copy but for the shocks and metric screws.

Mine was a early one, I had a quick look at a new buggy recently and it looked a lot different.

I bought a Factory Team T3 and scrapped the Thunder Tiger ST.

So I used the Thunder Tiger parts to keep it going and I could buy them at the local hobby shop.

Again all the parts like the chassis and arms etc were graphite.

There is an options page, I bought (factory team blue) turnbuckles, motor plate, front nose

plate to keep my T3 going.

Dave. :)

Hi,

The graphite parts you can tell because if you if you try cut them with a razor blade you can feel the

graphite particles, they feel gritty.

I don't know where to buy new graphite parts, I can try my local hobby shop for old stock.

Maybe I need to put the parts on B.S.T, I still have a heap of T3 and Thunder Tiger ST parts even

some NIP arms.

NIP AE parts for the t3 are available true the internet. I also bought some susp. parms and stuff in case I would break something

But you mentioned a kind of early Thunder Tiger ST that was an exact copy of the AE T3, where the Thunder Tiger ST I know is quite different.

Hi,

My local hobby shop is showing stock of some parts still, I might go there and have a look in the next

day or so.
