Gearing suggestion please?

Post by i crash cars »

Looking for a gearing suggestion for reviving my basher 10T with Stealth trans. I'm running a 2s Lipo through an older Novak Rooster ESC to either a 15t or 17t brushed motor. Just going to be bashing in some empty mixed surface lots maybe an occasional track day. I plan on converting the trans to the B4 style slipper. What do you guys suggest?

TIA!

I'm assuming you have a 87t spur. That's what I have on my T. Start with a 16-18t pinion and watch your electronic temps. There are tons of advice out on the internet but it all seems to funnel down to what your electronic components can handle. Have fun with it!

No problem I'm just getting back into the hobby myself. I started with 87/18p and have tinkered all the way up to 87/26p and now 84/26p. I was overheating (esc was hitting 160 degrees) doing speed runs in 90 degree weather but now the temps dropped to the 60's I can run that setup for a full battery and then have to let the truck cool down. I was just trying to see the top speed I can achieve. But I think my trucks sweet spot is an 87/21p. There isn't much diff between 43mph and 50mph except accidents are more expensive. Still not done tinkering with it, just thought I'd share.

On a side note, upgrade your top gear to the B4 and your slipper to the V2 setup. Big difference in performance and less than a $30 improvement.

Lots of luck. Enjoy

Thanks for the help guys. Yes I was planning on doing the B4 slipper. I do have the stock 87t spur on the truck now.
