Help! Axles Binding, tried everything!

Post by i crash cars »

Hey guys, I am in the process of getting my 10T running again. I recently rebuilt the diff using a TC3 rebuild kit and I installed Thunder Tiger Phoenix STII (same as T3) CVA's. My axles are binding on the left side interfering with full suspension travel. I can't tell if the axles are too long or if for some reason, I am not able to get the Diff T-Nut in tight enough to allow for more lateral play in the left side outdrive. I have re-assembled the diff several times to make sure I didn't miss a step and I even swapped axles from one side to the next to make sure that the left one may have a manufacturing defect and be a few mm longer. So far everything I've tried still binds the axle on the left side. Also, for what it's worth, my truck started life as a 10T Sport with dogbones and 1/4" axles. I replaced the rear bearing carriers with those from a T3 to accommodate the 3/16" Axles.

Do you guys have any ideas?

Is it binding a lot compared to the right side? Are you sure the t-nut is in the correct out drive?

shorten the diff screw its too long.TC3 kit has the longer diff screw.it protrudes too far and arm cant compress as far.DON

the rear t3 hub carriers may also be contributing to the problem, since the hinge pin is in a different spot, and I think in the 'wrong' direction making you lose some track width. hubs like these should widen the track 1/8" per side compared to T3 carriers.

Hi,

I tried T3 rear hub carriers once and it didn't work.

Get the ones jwscab said to, which are for a RC10 and 10T.

Also did the tc3 diff rebuild kit come with 2 T-nuts?

Make sure you use the short one.

:)

LOL yes I'm definitely using the shorter t-nut. I didn't know that T3 carriers wouldn't work. I'll order the others. Thanks for the advice guys!

Ahh.... I didn't notice the use of T3 hubs. Yes, that would do it.

Got the WC rear hubs in and that definitely did the trick. IDK why I ever assumed the T3 rear hubs would work. Thanks for the help guys!
