Rpm Ultramolded 10t: who the heck is Richard Royal?

Post by Twistedaxle »

Ever since I started in rc rpm has always been the go to for those pesky busted stock arms. I'm not going to lie and say I've been a die hard ae fan all my life and to be quite honest I usually strayed away from them and stuck to my tamiya and losi stuff. I started getting in to the vintage associated earlier on in the year and yes I totally regret not jumping on the ae band wagon years ago when I could of bought all this stuff new smh. Anyway  since learning of this magnificent brand and some of its history I landed on the ultramolded chassis kit ad... well you guys will come to learn that I'm kind of a 10t nut and when I discovered that this gem exsisted I had to have one!
And that's when I was hit with the "rare" card... Why are the cool things so hard to find

So a bit of time goes by and a little bird directed me to an awesome fellow that I've done many transactions with now and he shows me this

Bingo! Now we're in business! I had the trans and motor plate already, but finding everything else is a p.i.t.a.!

Richard Royall is the owner of RPM

And yes...hard to find some of the parts. If they are labeled correctly( ) and you can afford them then they are out there.

Ya man! should make it the fastest thing on my shelf  I'd eventually like to swap it out for a 2.65 in white one day

Getting ready to tackle one myself! I plan on hitting the track with it when it's finished. Anyone ever have durability issues with the chassis?

I would imagine that they are just as tough if not tougher then the T3 and T4 chassis. But I can't give a for sure answer

Seriously! Pricing is getting a little absurd even in just the past year I've gotten back into the hobby....

Yes 40 dollars for a mini bumper is getting a little outlandish and then there's the 90 dollar used gear covers

I have been away from rc stuff for at least 20 years, but recently my kids have shown interest so been digging stuff out.
I got a rc10t in early 92, also had a rc10. I always liked rpm stuff, so when that complete chassis came out i saved and bought 2 setups. I remember liking them alot.
It stinks, I specifically remember taking one chassis apart to dye it, stuck everything in a tackle box, friend borrowed box for some reason, never saw those parts again. But other dAy i found the chassis from that lost set and the originL instructions. My youngest seems to like the buggy look, i had planned on trying to build out that chassis, but it sounds that may be difficult!?
Cool website, all this lipo and brushless stuff have me feeling pretty old, and stupid. My last race with a rc anything was '96, so a little lost with all this modern stuff.

You're actually still okay, rpm still makes arms for the buggy and truck along with associated carrying the rest of what you'll need to complete your project. The towers can be found on eBay fairly easily and I'm sure there is a few forum members that make them. So you're still in good shape haha it's just hard to find the rpm bulkhead and other items undyed in new condition. The rc10 and 10t are still very much alive which makes it easier to find parts. As for the brushless stuff... It's alot easier then the old brushed stuff imo , a lot less maintenance. Welcome to the forum Cr500
