t5m cva bones?

Post by sbcnyc »

my stash of truck cvd's are running thin, ive been using b4 axles with t2/gt bones on two trucks, i have a set of sc10 cva's that we know are a taste too long, work ok using stock truck hubs, the issue is the T-nut side, the bone bottoms out against it before the chassis, i dont want to mess with the rear hubs yet, you can still find the 3/16 sc10/t4 cva axles everywhere, just peeking at the t5's, the axle is way longer than the older sc10/t4 so was thinking perhaps the bone is shorter..short enough for a 10t

i was gonna buy a set of t5 cva bones to try them with the sc10 axles.... does anyone have the measurements of the various truck"bones" the t5's are marked with 81mm but i dont know how they reference them... end to end? or pin to center... anyone with a t5 feel like taking a caliper end to end?

and to add, has anyone measured the sc10 4x4 bones? curious if the rear bones are the same as the 2wd, or the fronts?

take a close look at the bone and axle ends to make sure you have compatible parts, ie, the cup side is not on both pieces. I have not looked at it, but I have seen them change the cvd/cva styles, like the worlds car re-re.

please post up, it will be very interesting to see what you find.

I used a pair of 81mm T5m cva bones on a recent 10t build. Used the b44 / rc10 worlds axles. I assume the sc10 used the same ones. I don't have it in front of me anymore, but I know I was worried about how far they plunged into the outdrives. I don't remember them hitting or binding up at all, but I kinda think I had to shim the axle on the outside of the hub to get more clearance.

I think the standard 10t/t2/t3/gt bones were 79mm.

im sure the sc10 drive shafts are cva, the ball end is on the bone, cup on the axle

i shim standard mip cvd's axles on the inside using b4/t4 axle stubs to get a lil extra droop and to protect against popping out, i use the thick topshaft washers, one on each side, works great with these proline hexes i have, threaded for a 4x40 .50 grub screw

does the rere worlds car use 3/16 axle bearings? are the rims pin or hex?, the beauty of the t4/sc10 cva axle stub is there the same length as the b4/t4 3/16 cvd axle stubs, so if you run old pin rims, you have the space for the blue washer behind, or like my setup, room to use a hex and have lots of thread for the axle without upsetting track width too much...

fingers crossed, t5 bones on route... thanks homies!...

Hi,

How are you measuring them?

When I measure my 10T CVD bones the overall length is 87mm.

well, to conclude..... t5m bones are exactly the same length as the t4/sc10's... they do fit the cva axles... but sadly... too long.. i guess im swapping hubs...ill see how it goes

well, i havent given up yet, maybe b44 front bones???

i posted in the buggy forum, hoping someone has already been through the hassle when searching buggy setups, they stumbled on front length... im thinking b44 front cva's are the magic number, i just need the length confirmed

b44 front bones, t4/sc10 axles??... the hunt continues...

no good on b44 cvd's either... if i was smarter, i would of looked up the pdf manual of the b44, and find the exact sizes, but all isnt lost, the b44 fronts fit my caster s10b wheeler

now, one last lead, but i dont wanna pay, but theres a set of losi cva's from one of their 2wd short course trucks, that are labeled 88mm.. the t4/5 cva's come out to 92 end to end, if the losi's are measured the same... those are the ones to get!

Does anyone have an update on this?
I have a RC10T with RPM arms on the rear and at first I had the 2.2 wheel conversion carriers and now have GT2 carriers.
The stock dogbones barely reach with the 2.2 conversion (ASC6802), now with the GT2 (ASC7932) carriers and the original CV's its even worse .
Did I get the wrong carriers?
Not meaning to hijack but it all seemed to be in the same line of what was being talked about.
Thank you in advance.
