RC10DS - Lamborghini Gallardo
The story goes like this, i acquired two Associated DS cars and a 3Racing FGX F1 car in trade for a new in the box Tamiya F201. My buddy warned me that the DS cars needed work. The chassis' had been sharpied over to hide the scrapes and scratches. the tires were torn and both cars needed a few parts here and there. I still wanted them.
i got a custom powder coated chassis that was originally orange anodized. i guess the guy placed decals , powder coated then removed the decals. not sure what the technique was but it looked cool as he placed a Lamborghini logo and the bull on them.
needless to say i was stuck getting a Lambo body. The car has a MIP ball bearing steering setup, the tranny was freshened up with new diff balls, diff rings, and diff gear. The wheels came from an unbuilt NTC3 kit i had in the closet. The Lambo body is a PVC body that came from overseas.
Its a little odd seeing a DS sport a Lambo body but it seems to work. This old car was given a new lease on life with style.
let me know what you guys think.

Where did you get those wheels? Would love a set so I can do something similar with my Lambo shell on my HPI Pro2

Re: RC10DS Lamborghini Gallardo
That is a very cool car. The Lamborghini body fits very well. I'd say you did well in the trade. Especially since your Tamiya was only a "new in fox".

Re: RC10DS Lamborghini Gallardo
I appreciate your pointing that out as i was getting confused with the curvature of the tail lights. I have corrected them. They still dont align fully correct with the lines of the body as say HPI decals, but then again its not an HPI body...in fact it has no brand, lol.RC10resto wrote:Looks great
But your tail light stickers should be mounted higher
I believe you are correct as the initials on the ebay email are DM. I sent Don a link to forum so hed know his chassis was taken care of Thanks for the complimentlimestang wrote:I believe the chassis was customized by Don Martin. The finished car is stunning!!! Great Job!

AHHH ive been asked that question a lot on Instagram These wheels came from a NTC3 factory team car i purchased a while back. i got it cheap as the kit was sealed in original bags with manuals but missing the box. This kit is still unbuilt but heck i needed them wheels. The choice of white body paint was due to the wheels. The project quickly gained steam again and was finally finished. Ive tried looking for them so i can replace them on the NTC3 but have yet to come across a set.

Re: RC10DS Lamborghini Gallardo
Is it possible the taillight stickers are on the wrong sides? Looking at the curvature, I wonder if you have the left one on the right side and vice-versa. I don't know if those are identical left/right, but if not, it could be just different enough to not match the lines. I know many people got their "hockey stick" stickers messed up on the HPI '70 Challenger T/A body because they put them on the wrong sides.

Great scott batman, i screwed up my typing and Alfred didnt spell check Thanks i made correction...no more Tamiya foxes in box. By the way...the tamiya was not a loss for me...i had three already...it was blessing in disguise as two used DS's are better than one new tamiya (thats just my opinion though )

Constructive criticism is always appreciated when striving for perfection. I may purchase same body again just to correct some of the mistakes i made.

Im going to go home and look over carefully. to see if you are correct. i may mock up a set of taillight decals to see if how it would look if i revered them. again the body is a no-name brand and the body line decal tolerances may be off. as i told RC10resto i may redo a second body.

Re: RC10DS Lamborghini Gallardo
coolest "deviation" of a DS I've ever seen. The stock tc3 wheels from bitd look right at home with an almost-lambo design
