How rare is the AB stamp gold tub
I am currently restoring some Gold Tubs, A, B and C stamps. I don't have an AB stamp so of course I need one
Question, how rare are they?

if it takes 2 years to find one = rare
if it takes 2 days to find one = not so much

Re: How rare is the AB stamp gold tub
I want a "AB" gold chassis as well, I had seen one a while back on a built car, used on E-bay, I passed on it. I would say its not one of the easier things to find One, or two Black A's have popped up, and I thought that they would be harder to find then the gold "AB"

Serves me right for not reading many posts in in a while. Somebody is going to have to catch me up on the point RC10's became buffalo nickels. Searching for that elusive 3 legged variety now are we?

Re: How rare is the AB stamp gold tub
It literally has both an "A" and a "B" stamped on top of it. Pre "B" stamp

I'd say they are pretty rare since we have the only ones in the known universe!

"Needs an idler"
It was my understanding that the 'B' in AB refers to the darker gold tub that is drilled for the stealth trans. Most of the time when you see tubs for sale they don't mention the stamp. IMO while they may be considered rare they aren't going to be highly sought after.

Re: How rare is the AB stamp gold tub
Colors changed every batch of ano they did, so it’s hard to use that as a certainty
The AB stamp happens like this. Associated had a bunch of A stamp chassis blanks stacked up. The Stealth trans came out so they drilled them for a stealth and they stamped a B over the A and then anodized them. It was just due to the fact they already had them

+1 That's the explanation I heard as well although I don't recall where I heard or read it.GoMachV wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2017 3:48 pm Colors changed every batch of ano they did, so it’s hard to use that as a certainty
