** What's Old is New Tech Thread **

Post by scr8p »

ok, since i saw some guys mention it, i figured i'd just start one. this is for completed cars only. if your building one, start your own thread in the rc10 forum. then, toss some pics and info from your build in this thread when your done with it.

here is the original thread for the "what old is new" concept:

What exactly constitutes completed? Electronics and body? or just the finished chassis?

a roller would be fine. if you end up changing stuff later, install a body, electronics, etc., update your original post.

i just don't want to see this turn into a build thread.

My Mutant thingy

Rear:
- Losi 'CR VLA arms, cut away "long hole"
- Losi XXXT VLA hubs, cut away "short hole"
- B4 axles
- Stealth tranny
- Composite craft shocktower ( I think )
- B4 rear shock

Front:
- Compsite craft shocktower ( I think )
- B4 20 deg hubs, drilled to make hingepin fit
( 20 deg is "-5" on a B4, so its actually a 25 deg on a RC10)
- B4 inline axles

Wanted to use "Hobby shop parts" in the rear for easy availability. It works, but to make it race legal and have usable droop you need to shim it 1,5 mm more to the inside as it would normally be on a B4

Here is mine, it is now retired because I'm now running a stock Team Car and this one needs a lot of parts to be replaced.

Ingredients for the rear end:
- RPM or Dynotech "World" rear arms (long)
- stock wide chassis
- stock arm mounts
- RC10T hub carriers
- B4 hub bearings
- B4 inner hub spacers (do not forget these, otherwise the wheels will bind when bolted)
- B4 CVD's
- B4 outer axle spacers
- B4 rims

I use the "World" RPM front end with B2/3 rims

I think I have seen at least 3 or 4 other relevant buggies built since the last post on this thread. I was hoping to see a lot more builds posted here, especially with vnats getting popular. Maybe this will revive the thread :D
