Use this thread to post useful RC10 links. Preferably for vintage stuff, but any RC10 related info that you think someone could use, or might enjoy. Parts, part sources, manuals and how to's, historical articles and info, whatever you think someone else might like.

Associated's website:
http://www.rc10.com
Parts list from AE site:
http://www.rc10.com/shusting/CatalogHub/cathub.htm
And, if you place an order with AE, make sure to pick up the old VHS "R/C Offroad" from 1989. It's only $1.99, and it'll take you back.

Here's the original RC10 manual:

Big Boys Toys sprint cars. They're making the cars they made years ago, brand new. The owner even has the same welder from back then. You can order a complete conversion, or parts to complete your project:

Here's a good Q&A about early RC10's from AE's website.

And a great article about the creation of the RC10 by Gene Husting:

yet another nice little bit of info.
DV8ion wrote:Yup I did make the switch over to the B4 spur/slipper combo and it works amazingly. All you need is a few parts and your good to go.
Heres a list of parts you will need to make the switch.
  • Spur gear 81T (9651)
    Slipper hub (9604) x2
    Slipper pads (9603) x2
    Top Shaft (9601)
    Slipper Spring (9605)
    Slipper locknut (6629) or a 5-40 locknut
As for using a complete B4 Stealth.....it won't work without alot of modding to both the tranny case and your chassis. You can still use your stock gear cover on this conversion......all you have to do is make sure you setup your slipper and then just mark and Dremel the excess off the top shaft end.

Heres a pic of what it ends up as.

Hi, everybody!

I'm glad to see some people giving the original; gold-tub RC10's their historically imporrtant respect due. I was at Associated for eight years (until I relocated back to the MidWest) and during that time, I started realizing how important the early RC10 was to the industry... so I got myself an all-original made out of the last few NOS white nylon components in stock. Also picked up a few unusual parts (like the chrome "lights" and three-spoke chrome knockoff hubs) and some very vintage documents and catalogs.

As I told Doug... There's one guy who you REALLY need to interview. Pete Cooney, head of purchasing at Associated... he's the guy who knows every intricate detail of every part of the early RC10's, because he was the guy who spec'd each part and worked with the individual machine shops to order them.

Pete told me about all the little idiocyncracies, likle the earliest RC10's having A-stamped chassis, Kyosho tires and G10 fiberglass batttery straps!!!!

Nice guy, very down-to-earth, he's the "Source" for all the info on these early cars. A published Q+A with him would be fantastic!!!!

By the way, here's the original, before retouching photograph of that famous RC10 ad with Jay Halsey and the trophy girl superimposed over it. It's hanging on my wall.
