Rc10 front shock lengths

Post by Northy »

Hi all,

I'm a little confused by the different shock lengths used on the front of RC10 over the years/models, does anyone have a guide what they came with and what front towers were used with each?

Thanks,

G

I added a short list in this thread a while back:

http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=12859&hilit=shock+sizes

there are a couple of shock assemblies that cross the shock shaft sizes, for instance, the .56" bodies used with .32" shafts for RC10DS, and the commonly done (as shown in worlds car manual) 1.32" shock body with 1.02" shock shafts.

for the gold pan rc10 buggy(and graphite versions) you had either .56" or .71" depending on the arm length(typically).

check the manual for the particular car(s) you have and check the shock body part number for description and it will tell you what shocks you need.

if you are building it custom, you could potentially install whatever you want.

Thanks, that helps a little.

I'm trying to determine which shocks were used on which cars though, and with what towers, so I can make some new towers.

I started making this chart. If the more experienced members could modify it as they think it should be or let me know how to modify it that would be swell. I plane to measure actual overall shaft and body dimensions and plug them in to the chart to be able to have a list were we can easily identify what one has. If you want the original file just pm me. any feedback appreciated.

I still have yet to place the

1.02 Standard Bodies (6425)
1.02 Racing Bodies (6436)
.56 Standard Bodies (6427)
.56 Racing Bodies (6438)
1.02 Bottom Load Bodies (6453)
.71 Bottom Load Bodies (6454)

S = Standard
R = Racing (Hard Anodized, Grayish Green Shock Bodies)
HC = Hard Chromed
HA =Hard Anodized ( probably should pic this or R to simplify)
TiCN = Titanium Carbonitride Coated

also if any body could share what combination shaft to body combinations plus spacers they have done and why would be interesting. Keep your minds out of the gutter.

So what shocks should I use if I want to use the the taller Jamin shock towers?

1.02 front and 1.32 on the rear? Or 1.02 on front and rear?

Thanks in advance

Daniel

Maybe I'm remembering wrong but aren't there two versions of the Jammin' Jay front towers in both 1.02" and 1.32" sizes?

Why do I have a feeling that I'm going to go through all of my spare shock parts and label shit now. :x :D
