I have a nice set of 1/10th scale BFG A/T short course tires on slash 4x4 wheels and I have another set of wheels that I would much rather have them on. (because of the off-set).

I picked up some de-bonder and some tire glue. The de-bonder says that it may "craze" some plastics.
(what does that mean exactly?)

Now, I don't care about the wheels, but I DO care about the tires.

Anybody ever use this (or anything else) to un-glue a tire from one wheel and then glue it onto another?

Light surface cracking or a crackling of the finish, aka checking, or alligatoring.

Other methods of removing tires is boiling, baking, or freezing. I've heard that boiling can soften the tire compound. Can't say what baking does exactly. Freezing makes the glue more brittle and easier to separate from the plastic.

I've used an oven set to about 225 or so for maybe 10-15 minutes. Then the glue just kinda breaks free when you pull at the tire. You can clean up the tires and wheels pretty easy. Just put them on a towel on a cookie sheet or something. Use your own judgement though. If your house burns down don't come cryin' to me. Actually I think 600 degrees is the minimum for an object to catch fire. Just keep an eye on the wheels so they don't deform or melt.

If you like them a little pink in the middle just leave them in about 5 minutes.

Funny thing.....my father-in-law just gave me a set of pro-line bow-ties. They kept pulling out of his beadlocks (and two were starting to rip).....he runs 11.1v lipo's in a 4x4 slash (all his stuff is brushless). After looking at them I see what the problem was.....two different compounds. One pair of foams was blue, the other green (I think, my color vision is iffy). The "blue's" were ripping.

I have gotten a LOT of tires/wheels from him. He tosses em' when they rip off the bead. Now he gives them to me. I've gotten pretty good at repairing abused tires and wheels.
