Re: The Skateboard Thread
Same here, I was more into bike's, but we did enjoy to watch the other kids on the block! At the end of our street back then, was a dead end, and they were always there. The trail to our creek started just past they're ramp, so we always needed to pass them.Charlie don't surf wrote:I could never ride a skateboard I crashed like crazy

Re: The Skateboard Thread
Me neither but it would be cool to have plus I love the cool graphics. I had a early narrow skateboard from the late 70's, I could make it go straight real good!Charlie don't surf wrote:I could never ride a skateboard I crashed like crazy

Re: The Skateboard Thread
Here is a board I have been "restoring" for a couple years (before all the re-re's).
SIMS Taperkick circa 1977
ok, file is too large so I will show a couple ads and what it may look like some day. Mine is / was a water damaged mess.

Re: The Skateboard Thread
That is a cool board. I remember my first decent deck.
I had a Christian Hosoi mini, mostly for street/daily riding.
A Caballero quarter deck with Indy trucks. The wheels were 95 or 96 I think, hardest ones I could find. A few friends and I built a quarter pipe in his backyard, that hurt!

Re: The Skateboard Thread
I was no better at skateboarding than I was freestyle, although I envisioned myself a star at both. I only had cheapo skateboards though. This is one I remember fondly. My sister backed over it with her car...

Re: The Skateboard Thread
I never thought I would see that board again... I had only one in my life, and that was it. I can't remember where it was bought, but it would have been at towers, or consumers, or something along that line. I never did get the hang of it, so it went to the curb years later. great flash back though...

Re: The Skateboard Thread
A couple of action shots of me from the 1980s. We had the best air ramp in the city, even was used in a couple of local contests.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

Awesome. I had forgotten about those, what were essentially pvc pipes that snapped onto the Gullwings right. . And the "the bird". Sweet.mrlexan wrote:Finally found a pic of my board.

Re: The Skateboard Thread
Anyone remember an 80's version of a board called "Nuclear Meltdown". Graphics on the deck fit the title. The boards I find in searches yield much more modern versions. May have been a generic, but I'm not sure. Wish I'd owned a camera in the 80's...

Re: The Skateboard Thread
Here's my Hammerhead from back in the day. Rode it to school every day for a year or so in HS. I drew the Misfits cover art on it by hand. Unfortunately, the clear grip tape has yellowed over the years.

Great deck, I love the grip tape on the nose. The drawing is not to shabby either!
