Been away for awhile - Got new knees so getting back at it.

Post by Daryl Lane »

Decided it was time to go for it so I got both knees replaced at the same time August 18th. I am now able to get out into the garage and work on stuff.

Also need to work on updating some of my old post pictures that may be missing.

Later Daryl

Glad to hear you are getting around! Should be nice with that big open garage and toys to play with!

I admire you having them done at the same time and kind of wish I'd done that but didn't . First knee went good and was supposed to have the next one done in 4 to 5 months then life got in the way and wife broke her foot and I had to take care of her while she was bedridden for 2 months and all the up and down the stairs I guess got to me and when I finally had the other knee done I had problems after that took a long time to overcome so probably is a good thing you're done with them and moving forward in life. Best of health to you Daryl.

Thank you for the well wishes!

"a01butal" sorry to hear about your wife and the issues with your other knee. How long was your first knee swollen for after the surgery?

I figured with my dislike for hospitals and surgeries I would have opted out of doing the second one after going through the first one.

Plus I need to get out and find a job - get back to work so I figured getting them both done at the same time was the fastest way to make this happen.

Doctor said things look good and I am up to 115 to 120 degrees of bend in both knees depending on the day.

Still cannot kneel down on the ground which is slowing down all the work on vehicles I want to do, but working on it.

Sounds like you're well on your way to recovery, I didn't say complete recovery as things are never the same after surgeries. First knee took 3 or 4 months to really come around. Something you will come to find out is that you don't get up once you get down on your knees and the pain from the scar tissue is quite bad. However, being able to walk pretty much normal without constant pain is well worth it.
