You plug them into the provided fast charger, and use them. No lipo bags or swollen battery packs etc.. It would be cool if there was an adapter so you could run your RC vehicles on power tool batteries.

I thought power tools used Lithium Ion batteries whereas R/C uses Lithium Polymer ones which are way more volatile?

Bring it home all excited to wire up a new B6, you know cause the perfectly good one sitting in front of me isn't black and green.

Pull my stocker out of my Pelican case and take the body off only to find I left my battery plugged in for 4 months......so I have a 0.0 LiPo now

Situational awareness kids....the same crap I preach just bit me in the butt

I don't have all the highspeed stuff. I have one 4600mah, 2S, 100C, shorty hardcase that is servo taped into the car. I charge it attended at 5amps max while it is in the car on race day and at the track. If it went up in flames while charging, so would my awesome vintage buggy. For storage, I take it fully charged and do a few hot laps then unplug it. It will probably go bad before I get my fun out of it.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

lol I see what you did there

I plugged it in and when it read zero for about 45 seconds and slowly one cell built up to .821 I just unplugged it.

Would one of those boxes be helpful right now, I believe you're right cause it's sitting on my desk next to my bed just hanging out for now

What charger do you use? A lot of chargers have storage options to keep your storage voltage optimal

You guys are talking allot about the lipo's, but my fire http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=35188 was actually caused by the charger. So please always place the charger in a safe place where it can't catch anything around it on fire. Always use fire proof bag or metal NATO type ammo box for lipo's.

That's terrible, thankfully you and your pets came out okay ! This is why I'd rather be safe than sorry with this stuff.

So, do we now need a charger with wifi so we can put it in the box with the lipo and monitor externally ?

Wow, so sorry about your situation and glad everyone is fine.

I didn't catch this in your thread but can you tell us what happened in terms of the charger being blamed for the accident?

Thanks.

The charger caught fire near the fuse. The fuse did not even blow. It was an eflight charger that came with an RTF rc airplane.

All,

I received my bat-safe today. I believe I got the first and same batch of shipments as the early supporters from Kickstarter. I have to say, it was packaged very well. Box was supported at all corners. The item itself seems very well built and substantial. It is not light and doesn't look cheap at all.

I never plan on testing it's true worth but I am happy for this purchase (as is my wife)...

Is the included paperwork online so I can read it? If not, any chance of a scan?

What are all the parts and pieces that it came with? It looks like I am going to buying one or two as well.

It came with a modest cheat sheet but a deeper instruction PDF is online here:

http://www.bat-safe.com/web/download/setup-instructions

It came with the charger stand which you mount on top of the closed box and some velcro that is used to mount the charger securely. It's pretty simple. I recon it will be able to fit up to 6 or more 2S lipos... It also has a black fabric handle on the short side.

I have heard that the inventor will also sell extensions in case your wires are not long enough to feed from inside to the charger....

I am planning to do both. I will also use it when transporting lipos to track or elsewhere. Once at track, I will probably just charge in lipo sacks since table top space is probably at a premium. But I haven't fully worked out the work flow yet.

The only problem I see about storing all your lipos together is if you lose one you lose them all...
