Just a thought... is it fair to mix LiPo/Brushless vs. Brushed/NiCd-NiMH? Seems like who wouldn't run Lipo/Brushless? But I'd love to race a car in each if there were two classes.

I think it's fair if the brushless esc's ran in Blinky mode, but Erich won't make it mandatory. So if you actually want do well, don't show up with a 27t.

Hah. I just have my Hobbywing 17.5 combos. But I could get out the old Novak or Tekin ESC and my 2400 NiCds with a nice Green Machine 2... I have so many old handout 27T motors in a box; If only I still had the Fantom Dyno to run them and see which was the best. It'd be a good clean out exercise for that bin'o'motors.

I could see them running outdoors if weather permits. They just reconfigured the track for 1/10 instead of 1/8.

If RCExcitement is involved in tech inspection they will make sure everyone is running blinky. If you have a Novak that does not have blinky make sure to bring the instruction manual to sow them.

I think I read it will be indoors so guys only have to worry about tires for that track.

Tech inspection? There's no tech inspection at the Vonats. That's crazy talk.

Originally i heard they were thinking similar tires would be used on the Outdoor track as the indoor. I hope to go out there in a week or two to race on that Outdoor track and I'll let you know. :)

I have yet to race outdoors at RCE, but I heard the same tires(no slicks) work outside.

I am also planning on getting back there in a couple weeks.

Same here, adds almost 2 1/2 hours to my trip but I'm still going because it is a lot of fun and a new track should be interesting to run on.

So w/ respect to after market chassis for an RC10... are any allowed? Like say a CompositeCraft from back in the day?
According to the rules above, the RC10 and JRX2 (which are allowed to run with the plastic fantastic kits in Classic class) must be run in original/stock condition (tires, tranny, etc) so I would imagine that includes the original chassis but you could run it by Erich if you'd like.

Well, it wouldn't be fair for those running the brushed/NiCD-NiMH set ups, that's for sure. The event is a lot of fun and Erich does a great job but a true vintage, plastic-fantastic class where only brushed motors and NiCD/NiMH batteries were allowed would be really awesome because it resembles what most of the cars BITD were like. I'm not sure why such a class doesn't exist at the VONATs but that's the case.

lol..exactly. It surprises me that there is absolutely NO tech inspection whatsoever at the VONATs because surely people are cheating to varying degrees. Add to that the potential disparity between cars allowed to race in the same class like RC10/JRX2s racing against the plastic-fantastic cars in classic class and there is some serious potential for unfairness all across the board. Some will say it's just for fun so what's the difference but anybody who has raced in this event and sees what goes on in the pits understands that the competition is very intense and the racers take it very seriously. I've raced the event the last 3 years and have come with the bare essentials only each time - one old tackle box containing most of what I need and a small card board box to fit a few extra things that won't fit in the tackle box. The set-ups and equipment that most of the other guys bring in by comparison are elaborate and easily worth thousands of dollars....all for a "fun" vintage event?

I plan on going this year.

Confirmed with Todd Anderson(Owner of RCE) that it will be indoors on layout designed for the older cars.

Read on Facebook that B2/T2 are allowed this year.
