I have my usual 3-tone paint job I do... Simple thirds... sometimes front to back, sometimes back to front. Maybe do things at an angle. Just looking to up my game a little.
Anyone have any good simple rattle can tricks to get some good effects? Tips with the tape? Not interested in doing crazy liquid mask and cutting intricate lines w/ an xacto.
Examples:
I saw where a guy used a piece of that mesh tape for drywall.
hey there maybe i can help. for the first layer spray it on really thin. this helps the following layers adhere better and you will have a more consistent finish. if you want marble affects you need a translucent color and a metallic. spray on a layer of trans heavy enough where you can stick a thin plastic bag to and a brush to gently push the bag down. do this to each layer alternating between trans and metalic. make sure to give plenty of time for paint to dry in between. you can also use a spray bottle to mist some water onto your first coat to get some spots. you can also use a bristled brush or sponge for different looks. id suggest testing these things out with scrap and cheaper paint
When disassembling and ressembling I found there to be .003 clearance between the con rod and the crank. Other then that the engine appeared to be new out of the box.
It will make the noise when standing still against my foot with the driveline...

It doesn't sound like the engine to me. Nitro engines are pretty temperamental and usually wont run if something is wrong .
If it were my truck and you were sure it wasn't something like loose mounting bolts, pipe rubbing the chassis, gear mesh, or...
Here are my two rattle can attempt for my RC10 ladies.
I think it is not to bad for a rattle can
Would be nice to get feedback from more experienced painter :)

I'm no good at painting as I don't have the patience but always find the blending/fading the trickiest bit with cans as the spray patterns are too large.
I assume you used a stencil for the detail in the splashes? I've used cardboard at various...

I masked all but the Metallic green, shot that and then trimmed out for the flourescent green and shot it, then cut out the window lines and hit them with yellow and then pulled the rest of the masking off and shot the fade (with a fan on the shell...

Heres a few that I did recently on my vintage race cars.
I always buy Pactra or Tamiya rattle cans even for my shelfers. $7 a can give or take. It really adds up and there never seems to be quite enough for a second shell. Is there a cheaper source of rattle can paint with lots of color choices...

Just wondered if anyone has tried the Krylon Fusion paints? (I think that is what it is called) It is supposed to bond with plastics.
I've used it, but bonding with plastics and bonding with Lexan are two totally different things. You probably...
I don't need no stinkin' airbrush :D

This was done with pactra spray cans: black, fl blue, fl yellow, and white to back 'em.
This is a stock 6010 with chrome wheels, I'm...

Did some club racing yesterday and I have to say my B4 is dialed in(for me). I was within 1 second of the fastest lap, but I was not consistent and could not keep it between the pipes when it mattered. Once the race was over I was able to keep it on...
