I have my usual 3-tone paint job I do... Simple thirds... sometimes front to back, sometimes back to front. Maybe do things at an angle. Just looking to up my game a little.

Anyone have any good simple rattle can tricks to get some good effects? Tips with the tape? Not interested in doing crazy liquid mask and cutting intricate lines w/ an xacto.

Examples:
  • I saw where a guy used a piece of that mesh tape for drywall.
  • Drip / splatter effects

hey there maybe i can help. for the first layer spray it on really thin. this helps the following layers adhere better and you will have a more consistent finish. if you want marble affects you need a translucent color and a metallic. spray on a layer of trans heavy enough where you can stick a thin plastic bag to and a brush to gently push the bag down. do this to each layer alternating between trans and metalic. make sure to give plenty of time for paint to dry in between. you can also use a spray bottle to mist some water onto your first coat to get some spots. you can also use a bristled brush or sponge for different looks. id suggest testing these things out with scrap and cheaper paint

That marble effect sounds cool. I think I may have to give that a try! Thanks.
