OUTLAWD's Garage

Post by OUTLAWD »

The collection is not nearly as impressive as some of the others on here, but I figured I'd share the stable.

My first RC car, RC10 CE.

Christmas gift when I was a kid, built it with my father as I was only 10-ish years old. Base kit, bushings and all, mechanical speed controller, nothing fancy. Robbed servos and an Attack radio from his FX10. I race Kawasakis at the time, so of course the car had to be green. Had a small BMX track in the backyard that I used, but the closest real track was quite the drive, and I lacked driving skills, so this was mainly cruised around the yard. I dug it out of the attic a couple years ago, picked up a battery from Radio shack, and the thing ran great aside from some flat spotted tires and worn out bushings. I will pull it apart and clean it up one of these days, and maybe tidy up the wiring, but this has more or less been relegated to shelf duty.

SC10.2

Fast forward 22 years and I found myself in the market for another RC after a co-worker convinced me not to bash the CE.

A craigslist find that was gotten fairly cheap because it did not work. Turned out the ESC had the LiPo shutoff disabled and the battery was dead. The guy I bought it from was jumping off curbs, but whoever had it before him had a pretty nice setup with all the FT doodads.

I disassembled and cleaned it up, then promptly took it to the very muddy outdoor track. Then I got a lesson in body repair and reinforcing.

I picked up a RTR body, some indoor tires, and went to the track. Its alot of fun, but it sure is a handful!

Picked up a clear body and had a go at RC painting for the first time in over 20 years. fine line tape and rattle cans produced OK results...

Atomik 120A ESC and 10.5T motor
Tactic TSX57 servo
Outerwears Chassis Shroud
Lexan belly pan to keep it from parachuting too much

RC10WC Re-Re

After picking up the SC10, I really got the "bug". Amain had a coupon and I picked up a WC Re-Re kit in December. This was a straightforward, mostly stock build. If it weren't for the few faulty parts in the kit, it would have been together in an afternoon.

I'm not sure something like this will ever be "done", but this is how it sits now:

RC10WC Re-Re
Castle SV3 - 4600kV
19/81 gearing
Savox 1258TG
Turnigy Nano-Tech Ultimate 4600mAh shorty
Big bore springs on V2 shocks
F-Gray / R-white
Carbon Works rear tower
Kinwald suspension Baseline
RPM cups
9611 bones
B5M wing mount
Bashing tires on it in the pic, will run Dirt Webs at the track

RC10GT-E

After BSing with the co-worker who started this mess, we got talking about fast street trucks and his old 80mph 2S T4. I brought up MadMan's thread and the next day he brought in a GT that I couldn't pass up. I got it as a stripped roller, and decided I needed to build an 80mph mid engine truck.

I have yet to venture out of the parking lot, but this thing is absurdly powerful, even on 2S, and I am sure I will have some tuning changes before its all said and done.

RC10GT
Dynotech motor mount
Carbon trans brace
Stock stealth with AVID bearings and a over-tightend diff
26/54 gearing
Castle MM2 and 2200kV
DS1903MG Servo
T4 rear CVD/hubs modded to fit 1/8" pins
Red springs all around with reduced travel and lowered ride height
Jaco 2050 foam rears
PL Striker fronts (for now)
T5M Bulldog body
lexan splitter/belly pan
