Futaba s3003 with lipo...

Post by naushad »

I keep getting a buzzing sound with a few S3003s when I hook them up to a setup with lipos.

The servo is not centering properly and as a consequence heats up. When I move the wheel on the tranny the servo does respond.

Is this due to the voltage limits of the servo.? dont get the same issues with later servos...esp the digital ones.

I have a few models with S3003 steering servos, I am able to use LiPo with no problems.

Example:
I run a HotShot Re-re, with Tamiya 101BK ESC, Futaba 2.4 GHz Tx/Rx, and 2s LiPo.

Some more information would be helpful..

What voltage LiPo are you using? 1S, 2S, 3S?

What ESC are you using? (If its a Tamiya TEU101BK they don't have an inbuilt BEC, and will supply full battery voltage to the receiver..)

What (brand & type) Radio gear do you have?

Have you disconnected the arm from the servo, and checked that the vehicles steering is free, and is not tight or binding anywhere?

Does the servo centre when its disconnected?

Do you have another servo to try and see if it has the same problem?

What vehicle is the servo fitted to?

Generally the buzzing, not working properly and getting hot is due to using a frame rate in the radio that's not designed for analog servos. Almost all ESC's BEC's regulate the receiver voltage to between 5v - 6v so lipo is most likely not the problem.

Check your servos frame rate in the transmitter.

Rc10th you are bang on the money!

I did post this issue on facebool (Iconic rc).

Indeed, I had to change the frame rate on my ko propo helios. Once I ficked the switch the servo began behvaing itself.

I switched from super fast response to regular.

Thank you all for your suggestion...always learning!
