1984 Demon 2DH

Post by bluewormx »

I got my paws on one of these rare beasts.
The last demon speed control before the FET's.

The poor thing suffered a reverse power up but luckily these and the later proking had power diodes to at least protect the transistors. I should have it up and running soon. :D

Specs: BD249C power transistor 25A forwards
TIP36A brake 25A
TIP42 BEC
2x 10A relays: Reverse & Bypass

Here is a link to its predecessor

Can't resist the familiy photo ;)

These are all the Demon Speedos I have managed to find, from left to right: Demon 2C 1981; Demon 2DH 1984; Demon Proking 1986.

There are more but they are either very rare or variations of the above:

Demon 1
Demon 2
Demon 2C
Demon 2DH
Demon Fetish (Forwards only Proking)
Demon Proking
Demon king. (club racer version of proking six BUZ11 intead of eight).

Nick Adams built these to order therefore FWO (forwards only) where also available, in both king and proking.

I'm probably missing some ;)

I have one of these, that I received with a sg coyote, the wires to the receiver and the motor have gone, do you have a wiring diagram or a close up shot of where I should solder them on? Hope that makes sense? What car would this have go on to? I will try to get a picture.

Hi,
These speed controls where still being used by club racers until about 1987. I think it would fit most cars of about that era.

The picture is the best I could do ;) I'm sorry I screwed up the arrow of the PCM signal wire it is meant to point a little further down to the pad in the middle.

If you need any more help just ask :D

BTW this is a reversing speed control so don’t mix up the two red wires! :?
