Dave, what I think he means is if the cost is comparable to one another than why choose Delrin over aluminum? Here is my take on it: - Its much better for components that need to flex or take impacts such as suspension components.
- It doesn't put unnecessary stress on surrounding plastic components since aluminum doesn't give.
- Aesthetic reasons depending on the build.
- Metal-on-metal wear issues.
- Easily dyeable at home.
- Weighs less.
Aluminum is nice and my personal preference but is admittedly ornamental more times than not.

chris i got one for you ,i know some members might think this is a lame ideal and i dont know if it was ever thought of.but how hard would it be to make a aluminum batt box, wait! wait! i know whats going to be said YOU CANT USE METAL FOR A BATT BOX YOU'LL SHORT YOUR BATTERYS ,,im talking about modern day lipos and you still could use yesteryears power supply a lill servo tape would protect, would be cool than you could annodize to any color you want ,has this been done before? farmer

Pargu2000 makes those 2.2 jelly bean wheels you may want to ask him if he has any left or if another run is in the near future.

Hey HCP, are you lookin' in my window? Believe it or not, I've wanted to do a nice knockoff forever- Every R/C knockoff I've ever seen, from Hammad Ghuman on have been FLAT & easy to make. I like the ones where the outer spokes tilt towards you about 20 degrees, and my problem is that I have a swell CNC mill & a cheesy manual lathe (Can't afford everything at once!) so, for months I've been thinkin' on it, and just yesterday I made a milling tool from a boring bar that should let me cut these how I want to, since any manual lathe ops make the project impractical. I'll have some protos soon, stay tuned! Here is one I made for the spare tyre on my Sand Scorcher, they'll be like this but probably 'open' so the axle can protrude if it's a little long. Or not, what would you chaps like to see? And sizes, I figure 4-40, 8-32, & M4x.7: Any other major threads I should consider? Chris REC

What i like about your knockoff is that it's small and scaled to the wheel. Most of the other knock offs out there are huge.

How about a stretched RC10GT (original generation) flat-chassis conversion kit...ala' SC10 GT? I've seen a few GT2 chassis' offered, but never one for the 1st-2nd generation.. (I know Associated just announced the SC10GT, but this would be a great way to have fun with an old truck.) There's got to be a zillion beat up old school GT's out there that could use a new life. (They're practically giving the old trucks away on eBag since the class died & the SC trucks took off.)

I've got another idea...or two..or three... How about a Clod Buster wheel(s) to Blackfoot/Monster Beetle/Frog..etc. wheel adapter set? Robby Gordon style 1.7" wheels for the Buggy Champ, 'Scorcher, Rough Rider... BRM style wheels for the Tamiya '67 Beetle.. Scale VW (air cooled) motor kit...'Scorcher, etc. Centerlines, Ansen Sprints (Ala' Starsky & Hutch) Foose, American Racing (Torque Thusts) wheels for a Dual Sport (stock DS tire size)* PS: *BTW. the knock offs would look fantastic on my Dual Sport.

Well Dig, I'm working on a scale flat-4 VW engine as we speak- It will be way scale, way over the top, make the handful of others I've seen look like the feeble attempts they were, and have a lot of pieces & details (No, they will not be cheap! ) But, when they eventually get done, there will always be some bloke making cheaper & cheesier versions.......With Cox heads & such... The Clod wheel to Blackfoot adapter is a good 'un, I remember the chap from Advance Engineering had those back in the day & it was cool looking! Prolly worked like ca-ca, but for a shelf Queen it was bad-arse. He also made textured Alloy bed liners, tailgate nets, etc. for the 'Foot- I still have a flyer here somewhere, Hmmm... As for wheels, pics help a bunch so I don't have to look up every type mentioned- There are a LOT of 'em nowadays! Chris REC

I am mapping out the 2.25 case as we speak: Should have a proto within about 2 weeks-ish. Spacers, too. A gent from here- One Mr. Todd Klavenga- was kind enough to send me a case to measure, so he gets a free one when they get cut! (HINT: If someone can spare a Worlds rear bulkhead & a set of the 1.5 rear arm mounts, they'll get 'em back along with a free item when those get made....)
I'm just finishing a very small batch of the Titanium sprocket/Alloy hub units for the Kyosho HOR (I think there's pics of one in my examples thread?) just FYI: Also, whilst I'm set up to do so, I think I'll cut a pair of Titanium shock towers for the Team car just to see if .050 has too much flex or not. No more broken towers with Ti!
I'm also about to proto the knockoffs, and the list of stuff is long & getting longer- Hooray! I'm listening Mates, parts soon, Chris REC

man, some of the idea's on here are "WAY" out there! LOL
the trans case is a great one, personally I'm a racer so I like all my parts in delrin.
rear arm mounts are high on the list, followed closely by a rear bulkhead.
Those three items are things that WOULD SELL without problem.
I liked Reg's idea about the threaded top loader shock bodies, but honestly don't know how well they would sell.
Chris, I don't have a set of 1.5 degree rear arm mounts, but I have a new set of 3 degree rear arm mounts I can send you if that works? I figure you can adjust that angle at will when you draw it anyhow. PM me if you want them.
Ford.
