Mkay! There is a misconception that is unfortunately getting out of hand, namely that I'm looking to do handfuls of parts for pocket money. I must clarify, as the requests are eating my days explaining the realities over & over, so here's the deal: REC is a serious business, and what I do is ask for ideas, as it makes sense that I make what people want- However, this has degenerated into people asking for single knuckles for their Tomy Intruder. I need ideas with slightly wider appeal: At least the possibility of selling 50-100 units. So, simply put and not to be mean or greedy or whatever, here's the deal: I DON'T DO CUSTOM WORK. Show me 1 machinist who is making onesey-twosey sweet custom parts cheap, and I'll show you someone who is either going bankrupt or using his boss's machines.

Thing is, without serious businesses making a profit, there would be no R/C, period. I'm not Tamiya or HPI, but I must make several grand per project or lose my equipment, which won't happen. If you think this means I'm not one of you, or I'm just greedy, you're dead wrong. I love what I do, I just can't acommodate the dream-part requests- Low numbers does not mean 4 of something. I do lower #'s because I'm new & growing, not because I want to-Like all businesses, getting bigger is the idea.

What I do is, take ideas (from members & my own,) make a prototype, and send the info/price out to subscribers of my mailing list & a couple boards. If you want something, you have 10 days to put a deposit down- I then cut to order, sometimes a few extra but DON'T COUNT ON THAT if you really want whatever it is! Things happen fast here, and I cater to chaps who want unique, nicely-made parts & have the money to pay for 'em- That's why what I do is not for everyone. Yes, it's a bit elitist, and that's by design.

So, maybe one day when I'm retired & my equipment is paid off I can do these little jobs, but until that day, the individual custom work can't happen, unfortunately. It's just real life, I hope everyone can understand!
