Just another World's car (had a few speedbumps)
OK, so here is yet another one of my projects, I bought this one when they first were re-released, started building it, ran into issue after issue, got disgusted, packed it up and stuffed it into the closet. Since then it's been through 2 moves and has done nothing but collect dust.
My first issue was I was missing one of the 1/4" aluminum screws for the front suspension, on top of that, the screws that came with the kit are of such poor quality, they have mis-matched head diameters. I called associated and told them I was missing the screw, I had to fax them a copy of my sales receipt from Stormer Hobbies, to get them to send me one missing screw. So I did all that, when I received the screw in the mail, guess what? They sent me a blue one....
Anyways, while I was waiting on that, I built the transmission, to find it was so tight it would barely turn, worked on that, got it so it is sorta acceptable to run, then I go to put on the slipper clutch and find out that I have the defective top shaft. It's machined to far in, so when you put on the slipper hub it just bottoms out on the motor mount.
I again called associated, told them about my concerns about the tight tranny and they said the fix is to just run it. Next I tell them about the top shaft, so they ended up sending me out a new B4 top shaft. At that point, once I go the new part, I just stuck it in the box and tried to forget about the whole thing....lol....as I never have a shortage of projects to work on.
So....rainy day today here in central Florida, so I decided to dig it out, I'm gonna finish this car and run it.
BTW....what's up with the glow in the dark ballcups and bellcranks? I forgot all about those until today.

Re: Just another World's car (had a few speedbumps)
I originally thought about that as well, I originally bought 2 of these, one to run, 1 to keep sealed. But almost 2 years later , the car is still available. I don't expect to see the value of this car going anywhere anytime soon, so I'm gonna run it and enjoy it. I sold the other kit to a buddy and he is building it as well.
I do have a sealed RC10 classic kit however and I see the value went sky high on that one.

Re: Just another World's car (had a few speedbumps)
OK, here is what I was talking about with the kit supplied screws, the heads are not round and some are different sizes, so I bought the FT blue screw kit.
I get the FT blue screw kit that is supposed to be for this car and what's this I see in the package? A yellow/gold screw, just 1.
So I open it up, come to find out it is also short 3 of the 8-32 x 1/2" flathead screws that you actually need to attach everything on the car....seriously? You need 16 of the 8-32 screws, the kit comes with 13, or at least mine did. I called AE and they are sending me a couple blue screws....lol
In the meantime, I got the shocks all built and a few other things put together. Also, ditched the dayglow ballcups that don't seem to fit right in favor of some RPM ones.
This is the motor / esc that will be going into this car, Tekin RS Gen 2 ESC w/ Redline 17.5 Gen 3 motor.

I had that single long yellow screw in my blue screw pack too. It didn't really bother me as I was only buying it for the screws; mine are missing or scuffed away to nothing...

It's just odd, don't even know what it goes to.
Is anybody making precut chassis protectors for these still? Jconcepts did for awhile or atleast was going to, but I can't find any anywhere. The local track I'm going to run this car on is outside and can be pretty rough on cars at times.

Is it not the front body screw? The one that goes up through the front shell mount?jeepy2013 wrote:It's just odd, don't even know what it goes to.

No, that's what I thought at first too, but the WC kit calls for a 1/2" long one for the body post and all the rest of the 8-32 FH screws are 1/2" long as well.

Re: Just another World's car (had a few speedbumps)
if it's a real 'worlds car' kit, it would have been for the right hand side bellcrank for the body post. Worlds cars used that location for the front body mount.
