Voila, voila, I'm coming

Here's my 100% FWD Yokomo Yrf-II SP with a Tamiya EH3 Civic Si Body, artfully decorated last millenium with a deliciously 90's color/sticker scheme :)

This car is very dear to me - it was offered to me as my RC mentor JG many years ago already. I remember seeing him run it in the mid-90's on the RACG track when I was in my very early 20's and DTM EP was a non-existent class. You know what happened since then! Earlier this millenium, JG gave it to me, the car was battered, the chassis was delaminated and scratched beyond repair, or so I thought... It went to a very thorough restoration... and the final result is this:

The car is equipped with period electronics: Trinity Ex-Tech mill, Novak 410-M1c (de veau - French speakers *might* get the pun  ) speedo, Futaba 9101 servo... And my very own first "race" radio, an Ex5 (which glitched like hell and was soon replaced by a Caliber 3PS then). New old stock yokomo wheels/tires from my racing days back then... If someone has a set of front wides for sale, please PM me

Build thread is here (very, very incomplete)

Thanks rc10talk for virtually kicking my rear to complete this

Paul

(apologies for the crappy iphone4 pics, couldn't locate an SD card for my D60...)

Tamiya Rough Rider
This is my runner that has been considerably modified to withstand the abuse of running. Built with not the best parts so I'm not too worried about running it. I just hate thrashing the body. RCH aluminum chassis, wheel covers, coil overs dampers and brass main gear. CRP aluminum rear cage, heavy duty suspension pins rear axles and ball races. Race Prep tubular steel front bumper. Super champ steel universals and servo saver, Tecnacraft steering rods with dubro ball ends. Novak Cyclone ESC, Trinity 17turn modified motor and a Futaba radio.

I'm not on the "other" site, so I figured I'd post this up here for a little change of pace.

100% original, as built from the kit, early Tamiya Clodbuster, with bowtie emblem on grille and Chevrolet tailgate. The only hop up was ball bearings when built. This truck was built, test ran a few times, then sat on display for years. Everything is still 100% functional (even the Tamiya NiCad) 8)

Well - quick change of plan - the car/truck that I was intending to enter, was a Clodbuster that basically looks the same (colour etc) as jeepy's entrant

So may I present my recent build (& my entry for this year's 'Vintage Revival' meeting, to be held at the end of this month)....... My 'Modified' Mardave Meteor.

Could this be the first time this 'Budget' UK brand has ever been represented in the Build of the Month Contest ? The Meteor was released in the mid 80s (86 I believe?) & proved very popular with beginner racers here in the UK - with design clues which no-doubt were inspired by the RC10, but for 1/4 of the price! This Meteor features all the Optional parts from Mardave (Ballraced parts & LWB chassis) along with some custom made GRP & aluminium parts, Schumacher CAT/Cougar shocks are fitted to replace the notoriously bad plastic kit items. The gearbox is very much based on the design of the Kyosho Scorpion's, so a 'Mild' 13.5 BL motor is fitted along with a Hobbywing V2.1 ESC (so that some timing & boost can be dialled in for a bit more speed!) Power is supplied by a Core RC LiPo battery.

Here's a vintage Parma car of some sort. I've extended the chassis to fit the wheel base of the HPI body.

Not much else to report other than I like it
