Kyosho tf-2

Post by Super1080 »

I recently picked up this kyosho tf-2, it's missing a front diff and a front drive belt. Don't know a lot about it.

That's loaded with some pretty nice options:

Kyosho:
- carbon chassis,
- carbon shocks towers
- teflon shocks
- alloy center mount
- alloy motor mount
- ball diff
- swing bars
- metal roll bar

Kose:
- servo mounts
- alloy arms
- carbon top deck
- steering
- front suspension stiffener

The alloy rear suspension holder, c-hubs and front uprights may also be Kose

The front belt should be available on Ebay, as should the front diff (it's the Pureten front diff you need).

It depends on where you are in the world. Parts are easy to get, whole cars are hard to find on Ebay for some reason, which is weird because apparently it sold quite well in the 1990s.

The Kose parts are rare, however.

Here's the Kyosho part numbers you likely need:
- shocks: W-5151 Touring shock (SS) - as an alternative, Kyosho's modern shocks for the TF-5 or FW-06 should also work.
- diff: 39506 Ball diff for pureten or (for a gear diff) LA-1 diff case + OT-5 joint + OT-28 diff gear or (for a front one-way diff) LA-1 diff case + OT-5 joint + W-5111 Oneway unit
- front shafts (I don't see them on your pictures): 92384 swingshaft or W-5067 universal shaft (for 190 mm width) or W-5066 universal shaft (for 200 mm width)
- belt: LA-13 front drive belt or SPW-17 low friction front belt

If you are missing one of the front suspension shaft holders, you need part SP-9 too, but consider upgrading to the alloy ones (SPW-27 and SPW-28 for the front), as this eliminates a common breakage point.

Try Kyosho USA then. They still have quite a few parts in stock for some cars.

Nope. The spare parts start with SP or SPW. As long as you stay away from SP-100 and SPW-100 and above numbers (TF-4) and SPW-1 to 3 (original TF (= Optima)), you're getting either GP Spider or TF-2/3 parts. In most cases it is indicated on the packaging which part is for which car, but not always.

I'll see if I can scan in the parts lists I have, but they're not complete listings.

That looks like a start to a fantastic build! Seems like all the good and hard to find parts are there. Should be pretty easy to finish out. Ive also got a tf2,, almost R spec,, might be a type R,, not sure. Very cool early 2 belt touring car.
