Early RC10 Restomod Runner

Post by Stuntmanmike1975 »

Hey now!
I have had this car since it was new from way back in the 80's. I remembered that I traded a set of Redline 401 Flight cranks for this as a new un-assembled kit.(wish I still had the Flights as they are crazy $ now) It came with 4 new Andy's arms and an A&L steering bellcrank also new in the package. I assembled the kit then and ran it very hard. At some point I bent the chassis & put it away. Recently I bought an ebay parts lot that compelled me to pull out the old car & show it some love. It came with a bunch or RC10 parts so I replaced the chassis with another used one that is straight but still rough and added an older Novak Ballistic BL sensored motor & Novak esc that I had on hand. With a 2s lipo this thing almost takes flight. This is by no means a shelf queen but a solid "retro/new school" runner and lots of fun.

It's nice to see an oldie pulled from the closet to drive another day. 8) Is that an older 5800kV motor?

Actually it is a 5800kv motor, sensored as well & Very fast at that. It's a shame Novak went out of business when they did. I took to collecting whatever I could from them recently, mostly the early brushless stuff that I use on older cars. They're pretty inexpensive now. I'd take an old Novak combo over a new Chinese no name brand any day.

I love my old school brushed Novak ESCs and receivers. Always reliable and other than my own stupidity, never had an issue with them.
